Vi er beærede og forbløffede over at modtage Léonie Sonnings Musikpris 2025.

Vi siger tak, vi er ydmyge. Vi ser det som et stort skulderklap til os, men også til kammermusikken i bredeste forstand. Denne kollektive disciplin, hvor man samarbejder, man kommunikerer, hvor man søger hinanden og publikum. Danmark er en kammermusikalsk stormagt, og i Den Danske Strygekvartet er vi blot en del af et rigt miljø, som består af amatører, kammermusikforeninger, musikskoler, ildsjæle, sommerkurser, unge talenter og de nuværende og tidligere generationer af fantastiske danske kammermusiksensembler.

Det er første gang, et kollektiv modtager Léonie Sonnings Musikpris. Tak for dette, og tak for anerkendelsen af Danmarks kammermusikalske kulturarv: En musiktradition, som i dag er mere relevant end nogen sinde. Vi glæder os til at fejre prisen i maj og juni 2025, og vi vil gøre vores bedste for, at kammermusikken også i fremtiden vil leve og ånde i Danmark og hele verden."

We are deeply honored and amazed to receive the Léonie Sonning Music Prize 2025.

We are thankful and humbled. We see it as a great recognition of us, but also chamber music in the broadest sense. This collective discipline, where you collaborate, communicate, seek out each other and the audience. Denmark is a chamber music powerhouse, and in the Danish String Quartet, we are just a part of a large environment consisting of amateurs, chamber music societies, music schools, passionate individuals, summer courses, young talents, and the current and former generations of amazing Danish chamber music ensembles.

This is the first time a collective has received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize. Thank you for this, and thank you for the recognition of Denmark’s chamber music heritage: A musical tradition that is more relevant today than ever before. We look forward to celebrating the prize in May and June of 2025, and we will do our best to ensure that chamber music continues to live and breathe in Denmark and across the world.
