East Gomdandi is central union of this upazila. Boalkhali has declared as Powrashaba at end of 2012 . Boalkhali (বোয়ালখালী) has 33514 units of house hold and total area 137.53 km². According to 2001 Bangladesh Census report the number of household is 36,588. As of the 1991 Govt of People Republic of Bangladesh census, Boalkhali has a population of 195607.
