AbulHasnat: Faridpur school student Alauddin Matubbar alias Antar, the fugitive accused Azizul Sheikh (30), who was sentenced to life in the murder case, was arrested by RAB-10 after six years. Today Saturday (May 18) at around 11:30 in the morning in Faridpur camp press briefing RAB-10 captain Lt. Commander KM Shaikh Akhtar also told this information to reporters. The arrested Azizul Sheikh is a resident of Manikadi village of Talma Union of Nagarkanda Upazila of Faridpur. Earlier on Friday (May 17), RAB arrested the accused Azizul Sheikh by raiding the toll plaza area of โโBhanga upazila of the district. According to the press briefing, Alauddin alias Antar, son of Greek expatriate Abul Hossain Matubbar of Manikdi Pagalpara area of โโNagarkanda, Faridpur (8th class student). On June 7, 2018, he was abducted on his way to perform Taraweeh prayers at the mosque. The kidnappers demanded a ransom from Antar's parents to return Antar alive. After that, Antar's family also gave some money through development. Finally the kidnappers strangled Antar to death. Antar's mother, Jannati Begum, complained to Nagarkanda police station after many searches, but the police failed to rescue Antar even after conducting raids in various areas. 21 days after the incident, the police recovered Antar's body from a canal in that area. Antar's mother Jannati Begum filed a murder case in Nagarkanda police station. In the case, on October 15, 2018, Deputy Inspector (SI) of Nagarkanda police station Nikhil Chandra Adhikari submitted the charge sheet of the case to the court. After long testimony and hearing, after almost 6 years, the court announced the verdict of the case on March 27 this year. In this case, the court sentenced three people to death and life imprisonment to three people. RAB-10 Faridpur camp captain Lt. Commander KM Shaikh Akhtar said in a press briefing that Azizul Sheikh, who was sentenced to life after the verdict in the school student Alauddin Matubbar alias Antar murder case, was absconding. On Friday (May 17), a raiding party of RAB conducted a raid from Bhangar toll plaza area of โโFaridpur district based on intelligence and arrested accused Azizul Sheikh who was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 120,000 in the murder case. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused confessed his involvement in the abduction and murder. It is known that the arrested accused Azizul was hiding in different areas of the country under different guises after being sentenced to life by the learned court and lastly he was hiding in Bhandaria area of โโPirojpur district as a carpenter, tailor etc.
