Assalamualaikum Everyone!

This is to clarify everything that has happened in the last event.

CGL Esports hosted a CS2 and Valorant Tournament with the hope that this will be the FIRST CS2 LAN event in Bangladesh. It was the first event, but both CGL and participants involved had to face a lot of difficulties during the process.

Before starting, we would like to apologize for our mistakes and if anyone felt that we have treated them unfairly.

Our event “CUB CSE Presents CGL CS2 Masters” & “CGL Valorant Rivals” was announced on 11th of November, 2023. Initial matches for Valorant started from 19th of November, 2023 and ended on 3rd of December, 2023.

CGL Esports decided to keep the LAN Dates for “CUB CSE Presents CGL CS2 Masters & Valorant Rivals FINAL” to be 30th November, 1st & 2nd December, 2023. However, our Venue Partner, Canadian University of Bangladesh couldn’t allow us to host matches on these dates due to the political instability and ongoing final exams on Fridays and Saturdays.

CGL Esports offered 14, 15, 16 December as the second option which was not possible by our gaming partner, StarTech Ltd, as they had other schedules on these dates.

CGL Esports offered another date 21, 22, 23 December which was also not possible for unknown reasons not disclosed by StarTech Ltd.

As the election was also nearby CGL Esports and StarTech Ltd agreed to shift the dates to February 10, 11, 12, 2024.

CS2 Participants agreed on these dates as we had no other options left because Gaming PCs were booked till 9th February, 2024 for another event by another organiser. So 10th February was the closest possible LAN dates.

Finalists of Valorant Rivals, Team 'The Covenant' and 'Exceeli Esports' were unable to play on these dates as one of the members of The Covenant had SSC Examinations from 15 February, 2024 and one of the members of Exceeli Esports was supposed to leave Bangladesh.

On 27 January, a representative of Exceeli Esports told us they would walk-over the final match. So unofficially we let the captain of The Covenant know that they will get an auto win. But before we announce this officially on 29 January we got to know that Exceeli will play the finals. So we changed our decision and asked the teams to play the match but this resulted in The Covenants feeling that they were being mistreated, this truly wasn't our intention we humbly apologize to everyone involved for making them feel that.

As this was the GRAND FINALE, we wanted the match to be conducted so we asked both teams to fix a date for the online match. But no team was able to come to a final date so we had to dismiss the title on that note.

Before there were talks and suggestions to host the finale online however we wanted it to be on LAN since this was our first time hosting a Valorant tournament and we were also excited to see the match live. We understand that this was a mistake from our side and we should’ve thought about it more carefully.

Now, coming to the “CUB CSE Presents CGL CS2 Masters”. We were supposed to get the Gaming PCs on 9th of February but this was not possible as StarTech Ltd had a scheduled event at another venue till 7:30PM.

But they promised us to deliver the Gaming PCs at 10:00AM, 10 February, 2024. But unfortunately we received the PCs after 1:00PM or later. So it took a lot of time to set up the PCs and connect LAN which involved downloading some game files as well.

Also as CS2 is a new version of CSGO, a lot of commands and functions were not supported for LAN, since many things were changed on the server-side so we had to face a lot of technical difficulties there as well. We understand that we should have been more careful here and should’ve equipped ourselves with the risks beforehand, we sincerely apologize for our inadequacy.

Coming to the part of prizemoney, CGL Esports distributed trophies and prize money to the champion, runner-up and 2nd runner-up of CGL CS2 Masters on 22nd February-23rd February, one week after the event was concluded.

As the title for Valorant Rivals was dismissed, we decided to allocate the prize money for the event 10,000TK, 10,000TK, 5,000TK, 3,000TK, 2,000TK from 15,000Tk, 10,000TK, 5,000TK accordingly.

Coming to the prize money allocation from sponsors. CGL Esports had two sponsors for the two game titles. Ehub for CGL CS2 Masters and PaceNet for CGL Valorant Rivals. We were supposed to get the money(30,000TK) from PaceNet during the event but unfortunately that did not happen on time.

Still we offered the finalists prize money from our funds on 2 March, 2024. And the prize money for XLE was supposed to be set-off by PaceNet as they were correlated.

Team The Covenant decided not to take the money for professional reasons as they didn’t receive any titles. So we wanted to sort it out but we lacked communication.

We didn’t skip the prize money we offered but our offer was rejected, which we completely understand and have no issues whatsoever. So we came to a conclusion that we will give Team The Covenant the Champion Title for CGL Valorant Rivals as XLE wanted to walk-over initially and Team The Covenant was ready to play therefore we kept the original prize money allocation(BDT 15,000 | 10,000 | 5,000) and the winners have received the prizemoney.

CGL Esports did not want to delay the prize money but had no options left unfortunately. But now we have distributed the prize money to both teams of Valorant. We are in the process of reaching the team who placed third on CGL Valorant Rivals and expect to get a hold of them very soon.

CGL Esports received sponsor money from PaceNet on 21 May, 2024. Even though we got the money this late we still offered money to the finalist before that in March. But as mentioned above due to professional reasons they were unable to accept it which is completely fine from our side.

We hope everything is clear and right in front of you all. We really had a tough time. From unfortunate events like hartals and political instabilities to teams not being able fix a date to StarTech not able to give us a date in December, 2023.

We really hope and pray our upcoming events will fix and we will ensure PCs are delivered on time and will be more strict on fixing dates and try to find better solutions. Thank you for your time. We are an organization that started with a few gamer friends with the hope of hosting gaming tournaments to keep activities in gaming communities and help Esports grow.

Getting people’s money unethically is not our goal here. We even got less sponsor funds than we were supposed to get yet we chipped in and provided the full prize money to the eligible participants.

Despite the many unfortunate events that happened and underlying causes, CGL apologizes to the participants, fans and everyone involved for our shortcomings; despite the challenges it was our duty to ensure a smooth experience for everyone which we have failed to provide and for that we humbly apologize. We hope that we all can move past this and look forward to a better hassle-free future and ask for your prayers to host better quality tournaments in the near future.

We ask your support and forgiveness as we, CGL Esports, try to persuade our vision and keep on moving forward.

Signing off,
CGL Esports
