The genocidal legacy of Radovan Karadžić lives on in Republika Srpska. Republika Srpska is an unusual political entity within Bosnia, that grew out of the war in Bosnia 1992-1995, the Genocide and ethnic cleasing (Bosniaks and Croats and other non-Serbs were expelled from its territory in a violent campaign of ethnic cleansing). When the normalization of atrocities, the glorification of the perpetrators, and the dehumanization of the targeted other become accepted modes of discourse, we see again, the seeds of genocide within the sociopolitical culture of Republika Srpska and Republic of Serbia.

Armed forces from the Republika Srpska, alongside units from the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the self-proclaimed "Republic of Serbian Krajina," as well as foreign mercenaries, occupied the UN's safe zone in Srebrenica. This move, driven by the ideology of Greater Serbia, set the stage for systematic deportations and mass executions. Men, boys, and the elderly were separated from women and children, and thousands were taken to various locations and executed. Mass executions occurred in several places. In total, over 8,000 Bosniak men and boys were executed.

In July 1995, the Srebrenica massacre resulted in the genocide of more than 8,000 Bosniak Muslim men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in the town of Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the agression.
