Mostar Blues & Rock Festival 22 years of Blues tradition in Mostar. So, W.C. Senate, on Sept. 5, 2002, declared 2003 – YEAR OF THE BLUES (YOTB). Handy’s first encounter with blues music.

In 1903 on a lonely train station in Tutwiler, Miss., African-American composer William Christopher Handy (better known as W.C. Handy) met a man playing “the weirdest music I had ever heard.”
The music was the blues, an African-American art form that has become the most influential form of American root music. Handy is regarded as “The father of the Blues.”
In recognition and celebration of that

seminal encounter 100 years ago, the U.S. Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-Ariz.), Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash) and Fred Thompson (R-Tenn) led this congressional effort, which was initiated by Seattle-based Experience Music Project and the Memphis-based Blues Foundation, to bring long overdue recognition to one of America’s most important music forms. 2003 also marks the 100th anniversary of African-American composer W.C. By organizing numerous festivals and concerts whole musical world is celebrating 100th anniversary of blues music existence, one of the oldest music forms in general. In 2003, probably in the best possible moment, Mostar is joining this celebration by initiating the first international blues festival in Bosnia-Herzegovina. After a decade and since its eleventh edition, the festival introduces the word rock within its name, thus responding to the evolution of music as well as endeavoring to present great rock names at the festival. As of initial enthusiasm, Mostar Blues & Rock Festival has grown into a respectable event that has found its way to maps of European festivals and is one of the most significant festivals in the region. Over the past eleven years, Mostar Blues & Rock Festival presented great names such as Ten Years After, Ana Popović, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Sugar Blue, Snowy White, Dr. Feelgood, Tito & Tarantula, Deborah Coleman, Danny Shephard, as well as regional artists: Majke, Partibrejkersi, Dado Topić & Telephone Blues Band, Josipa Lisac, Zdenka Kovačiček, Vlatko Stefanovski, Yu Grupa and others. Despite many obstacles, we believe that we have managed to bring this immortal musical form back to local music scene and include city of Mostar to the list of festival cities. Special thanks go to the U.S. Embassy in BiH, the City of Mostar, the Federal Ministry of Culture and the Pavarotti Music Center, who were with us since the beginning.

Završeno je još jedno izdanje Mostar Blues & Rock Festivala.
A trajemo dvadesetdvije godine, sa odlučnom tendencijom da ispred naziva iduće godine otisnemo 23.
Bile su to opet dvije sjajne noći koje su privukle publiku iz regiona, ali i iz cijele Evrope.
I opet smo uspjeli uz podršku dobrih ljudi, organizacija i institucija koje cijene značaj ovog, jednog od najdužih, festivala.
Prije svih spomenut ćemo Ambasadu SAD-a u BiH i Grad Mostar-Gradsku upravu, koji su od prve edicije sa nama.
Veliko hvala i: Turistička zajednica HNK/Ž, BH Telecom, Turistička zajednica Grada Mostara, Federalno ministarstvo kulture i sporta (fond sredstava od igara na sreću), OSCE, OKC „Abrašević“ i Mostar Rock School.
Za izvrsnu tehničku produkciju opet se pobrinula kompanija Pro Stage.
Hvala Muzičkom centru Pavarotti na ustupljenom prostoru za workshop.
Slikom, kamerom i dronom oko nas je bila izvrsna posada iz Sektor 51.
Za after party program hvala nezaobilaznom Night baru „Duradžik“.
Hvala svim medijima koji su u najavi, za vrijeme, i poslije festivala slali brojne priloge.

Vidimo se iduće godine.

Katie Henry i dva člana njenog benda održali su radionicu i jam session za mlade muzičare iz Mostara. 🎸🎹🥁

Kontinuirano pokušavamo, pored samog festivala i kvalitetne svirke, svake godine omogućiti i platformu za razmjenu znanja, iskustva, savjeta i trikova industrije kako bi oni koji se planiraju baviti muzikom profesionalno mogli učiti od najboljih. Vjerujemo da je omogućivanje prilika za upoznavanje sa kolegama koji se uspješno bave muzikom značajna stvar za one u usponu. A svakako potičemo i naše mlade muzičare da pokažu šta znaju, upravo tim najboljim od kojih uče, jer smo sigurni da se i među njima kriju strašni talenti! 😎😎😎

Još jedna radionica protekla je sjajno, dotakli smo se:

🎤 Kreativnog procesa nastajanja pjesme i songwrittinga
🎤 Katienog iskustva, od početaka sviranja do danas
🎤 Okupljanja bendova za turneje na drugim kontinentima i kako postati dio istih
🎤 Iskustva sviranja sa velikim brojem različitih muzičara

Nije bila samo priča u pitanju. Svirali smo zajedno, prošli kroz pjesme koje su utjecale na Katie, kroz blues standarde i džemali skupa, kako i dolikuje jednom okupljanju strastvenih muzičara.

In addition to the festival itself and high-quality performances, we continuously strive each year to provide a platform for exchanging knowledge, experiences, advice, and industry tricks. This is to ensure that those planning to pursue music professionally can learn from the best. We believe that providing opportunities to meet successful colleagues is significant for those on the rise. We also encourage our young musicians to showcase their skills to these top musicians they are learning from, as we are confident that there are incredible talents among them! 😎😎😎

Another workshop went great, and we touched on:

🎤 The creative process of songwriting
🎤 Katie's experiences, from her early days of playing to the present
🎤 Gathering bands for tours on other continents and how to become part of them
🎤 The experience of playing with a large number of different musicians

It wasn't just talk. We played together, went through songs that influenced Katie, explored blues standards, and jammed together, as befits a gathering of passionate musicians.

Thanks to the United States Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been enabling these workshops and supporting MBRF for years. 🇺🇸

🎤 Slobodno čestitajte Moniki i našim prijateljima Mostar Rock School čiji je ženski vokalni ansambl Liron danas dobio nagradu publike na festivalu u Omišu, a predvodila ih je upravo Monika, koja je stigla danas da bude i s nama. Slavimo uspjehe zajedno!

Slijedi nam Katie Henry (USA) i sjajan prateći bend dobrih i poznatih drugara iz Slovenije i Hrvatske. A nakon njih Partibrejkersi. Blues traje!

Katie Henry je američka blues rock pjevačica, gitaristkinja, pijanistkinja i kantautorica. Od 2018. godine izdala je dva solo albuma i trenutno je potpisana za Ruf Records. Njen najnoviji album, "On My Way", dosegao je šesto mjesto na Billboard Top Blues Albums Chart. Henry je odrasla u Vernon Townshipu, New Jersey. 🤟✌️
