Tyson Goodard/Evangeline Yen

The ridiculously talented, creative mind and workaholic, Tyson makes up 1/3 of The Thicc Shake Crew who have been showing Brisbane exactly what they’ve got in the last year! From putting on “Voyage to the Galax-She” at last year’s Sci-Fi festival, to performing on the Main Stage at Big Gay Day 2 years in a row. Each member of the Thicc Shake Crew have their own side projects always supporting eachother and come together as a team to create new shows for their adoring audiences!

Evangeline was contacted the day before Big Gay Day and was asked to join Melanie C and “Sink the Pink” on the main stage as the iconic Mel B aka Sporty Spice! It was a proud moment for Brisbane and all of her friends and family (I can’t lie, I got choked up seeing my friend share the stage with such a legend).

Until earlier this week, Thicc Shake, myself and a cast of some of Brisbane’s hottest performers were creating and rehearsing “Galax-She 2, a journey through Herstory”….until the announcement came that so many of us are getting at the moment! The show has been postponed until later this year due to the coronavirus (sad face).

Whilst us creatives/artists/entertainers understand the reason behind the cancelations and impending isolations, to many of us it’s a huge loss of income!

Tyson came to chat about that, his BGD experience and what he plans to do if locked up for 2 weeks!

It’s St Patrick’s Day today and celebrations, much like everything else are CANCELLED! This is disappointing news for the Irish and supporters around the world BUT it DOES mean that “Can Host” legend, Fionnuala (Finn to the fans) is at a loose end tonight and will be our straighty!

Finn will be talking about how it feels having her fave day of the year cancelled BUT ALSO...does she have a boy to share lockdown with yet?

As much as I hate telling her this, many of you have contacted me asking for another Finn sepcial or a “Finn-off”....so this episode should keep you entertained when in quarantine!

Here is a pic of the last time she was sober of St.Paddy’s day!

It won’t be all doom and gloom as we will also be reflecting on Big Gay Day 2020 and what it meant to some of our guests!

Can Host - We Salute You

Joining us for episode 9, which celebrates our icons, up and comings and allies in the q***r music space is DJ Les Smith!

Les has been a much loved DJ on the scene since 1982 and hosted some of the biggest parties in Brisbane as well as interstate!

Les spent 15 years as a resident DJ at the Wickham and is excited to come back and tell us a bit about the history!

Les one of the friendly faces of the Brisbears committee and puts the L in KLM...what can we say....he likes to be busy!

Whilst his music taste is eclectic, we might put him on the spot to find out who is ultimate icon is and why we should go back and listen to their back catalogue!

LILA LUXX

The theme for this episode was very much inspired by burlesque and some of the local performers that are slaying the Brisbane stages! The perfect celebration of the body, music, sexuality and fashion I wanted a representative to join us…..and we stuck GOLD!!

Ms Lila Luxx’s Burlesque career is nothing short of legendary! Performing at the Burlesque Hall of Fame 2017, was a Best Debut contender at the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend 2016, headlined the Perth International Burlesque Festival in 2016 and the Australian Burlesque Festival in 2015, Lila was also awarded Most Outstanding

Not one to keep her talents to herself, Lila is now the Director of The Bombshell Burlesque Academy in Brisbane which creates some of the best in the Biz! Lila works hard to ensure burlesque artists have the opportunity to perform and shares her skills around the country!

So what are some of the misconceptions with burlesque?

“Can’t Host, Can Travel”

For this week’s “Give It To Me Straight” we are keeping it in the family! My amazing cousins (thru marriage, but we’re not actually married and stop putting pressure on it) decided not so long ago to pack up life as they knew it and travel the country!!

In December 2019, Mum, Dad and all 4 kids set on the adventure of a life time with their car and caravan for a 12 month trip around Australia!

They will be dialilng in from somewhere in the country to tell use how things are going and share some of their stories so far…This may include how they discovered that calling an ambulance in other states comes at a price…literally!
