Big congrats are in order for Maiya, who has just received a copy of her first illustrated children's book! Dr Paul Venzo approached One Day Studios looking for someone to illustrate a book for a project at Deakin University, and we were happy to refer him to Maiya! After many meetings, drafts and redrafts, Maiya is now officially a published illustrator. Only a limited amount of prints were made for the project, so it's almost like a collectors item!

Just one of the many ways One Day Studios can help young people find work in the creative industry! The book is not available for purchase (maybe one day!), but we are lucky enough to have a copy that lives at the studio - come by and take a look!

Thank you to Paul, Alissa, and Alison for helping a young person achieve their dreams!

What's a TV show without a really nasty bad guy?

The Chief will be introduced in the next chapter of Mabel & Switch. Played by the amazing Dan Haberfield (Jack Irish, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Fires), The Chief resents anything relating to technology - including robots. Leader of the Temple of Nobotics, he'll stop at nothing to get the town back to how he thinks it should be - no tech, just nature.

Our first FULL LENGTH tutorial is now LIVE on YouTube! We dive into how you can get started in stop motion by making figures from foam clay, how to animate them, and what programs to use.

Set a few years after the pilot episode, our main girls have grown up a bit and needed new outfits that reflect their personalities more. Mabel, Lux, Phoebe and Sheena have all had an apocalyptic glow-up and are ready for the events of episode 2 and 3!

You can probably tell from these photos that we had THE BEST time last week creating set dressing for Mabel & Switch - namely, robots! We had an awesome gang of volunteers of all ages hanging out and getting their craft on to make some inhabitants of the Mabel & Switch universe! Switch comes from a place where robots do anything and everything, so obviously we had to make him some friends and coworkers.

Have you ever wanted to build a tiny world? Join us this weekend to make miniature scenes for the Mabel & Switch TV show! Gemma Lark is a miniature making expert, joining us all weekend to dish out advice on making the perfect mini. All miniatures created will be used in Mabel & Switch!

We're building robots next week, and you're invited! No experience required, and we'll provide everything! The robots we build will be used in Mabel & Switch Episodes 2 and 3!

Fancy yourself a creative with a bit of spare time in the holidays? We're having some open workshops next month to build stuff for Mabel & Switch!

January 13th to 17th will be focused on creating robots for the universe of M&S. Switch can't be the only one we see - Mabel supposedly lives in a world full of robots!

January 20th to 24th will be focused on our prop list and getting stuff made for that - set dressing, handheld props, anything that need to be seen or touched in Mabel's world.

All materials provided, just bring your big brain ideas! Kids under the age of 12 will need to have a parent with them for the duration. Light guidance will be provided but it isn't a workshop with step-by-step instructions - you'll need to be able to work alone!

10am to 3pm all days! Come to only one, come to all of them if you like! Contributors will get to see their name in the credits of Mabel & Switch for their assistance.

Happy new year everyone! Is your resolution to try new things or to create more? Then we can definitely recommend this miniature workshop!

DATE CHANGE: we're now making minis on the 11th and 12th of January!

Miniatures are small-scale models used in movies to create detailed scenes that are hard to film in real life. These models mimic cities, landscapes, and buildings, giving filmmakers more control and detail. You can create fantasy lands that don't exist, like in Lord of the Rings, or create cities that can be demolished and exploded on camera!

Learn the art of making tiny things realistic with us!
