The State Government has refused a freedom of information request for a report of reasons why the initially planned duplication of the rail line between Longwarry and Bunyip has been cancelled.

Member for Narracan Wayne Farnham, whose request for the environmental report was refused, said he'd now applied to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to have it released.

It's almost Christmas time, which means it's also almost Boxing Day! And with the Drouin & District Race Club set to make their return next Thursday following a lean few years, this week's sees us back in December 1999 when thousands poured in for the annual Drouin Boxing Day picnic races.

UPDATE: INCIDENT RESOLVED

FIRE CLOSES FREEWAY

A grass fire has closed a section of the Princes Fwy at Nar Nar Goon.
Country Fire Authority reported the grass fire next to the freeway at 12.15pm.
The freeway is closed between Racecourse Rd and Main St.
There is no immediate threat to the community, the CFA added.

Less than four years after undergoing a $700,000 surface upgrade, the Neerim South oval requires "a full redesign and rebuild."

Baw Baw Shire community infrastructure director Ben Wood said minor repairs or upgrades would not rectify issues with the oval's current drainage system.

The Warragul Warriors women capped off a perfect season on Saturday evening as they defeated Moe Meteors 72-62 in a fiercely contested Country Basketball League grand final. 🏀
