Fun session on little surface bass today. Plenty of action, always surprises me how aggressive some bass are for their size. Hopefully do a bit of exploring this summer and find some bigger models 🤞

Always nice to get onto a red when trying a new area. This fella taking the usual trevally bait and going 71cm in length. Released to grow into a 20lber and kept a gummy for some flake 👌

Bit of fishing over the weekend. Starting with Ben heading out in the boat with the Dad for a few hours in the morning on Friday aiming to stock up on our favourite bait the mighty silver trevally. After a few moves we eventually got into some and landed 14 and a nice few other species in the process. We both then headed out in magical conditions on the Sunday with blue skies and no wind. We ended up with a combined 15 ish gummies and 3 pinky snapper two biggest just under 50cm. We both kept one gummy and a pinky each, fresh baits being key as always 🤙 lot of pinkies around to start the season hopefully some bigger snaps start taking the baits instead 🤞

Nice stop on the way home from the hobie comp at st George's Basin.

Double donuts on bream in the comp but a nice 75cm flatty was a good highlight.

East gippy turned it on at least 40 bream caught on both soft plastics and hard bodies. Biggest going 42cm on the sprat 85 👌

Beautiful day out yesterday on the eagle rays ☀️ 7 eagles landed and couple of really nices ones. Busted off a potential pb eagle ray haha

Few reds from last weekend whilst trying some new spots in western port. Variety of baits but fresh seemed to be best especially to get better size than the pinkies that are around. Hopefully a few more this weekend 🤞

Nice weekend exploring a beautiful estuary out in East Gippsland. Some nice fish caught in shallow clear water and also some flathead right at the top of the river below the rapids 😁👌

WHAT A TRIP 😝 spent a few days down at Portland out of the kayaks chasing southern bluefin tuna and kingfish. The first day we stayed close looking for the kingies but only sounded a few and they didn't want to play the game. Tyler headed out wide to 12m and found tuna schools not long after he was hooked up and landed the first of the trip on a Nomad Design Australia riptide 105 😁. We then made tuna the main target of the day chasing schools all over the place. It proved quite challenging out of the kayak with first being seeing the schools, then chasing them down in the kayak without boats coming and putting them back down and then the hardest part getting them to eat. We had many follows and a few missed hits. Tyler eventually hooked up again on a rapala shadow rap 70mm that had been rigged up with a big single off the back😏.

The next day we headed straight out wide and started the grind again. Seeing dolphins, a seal and a couple of fins from a toothy critter cruising past the kayaks🦈. With more boats around we moved away from them to find our own patches of fish to give us a better chance to convince them to eat. After many casts Ben finally watched a tuna eat a Jack Fin - official Ebb Tide Tackle Stylo 150. Once it got close to the kayak it appeared that the hooks were just hanging on in the side of the fish making it hard to get up trying to pull it in backwards. Finally got it in and Ben ticked off his first Southern Bluefin Tuna 😍.

The next day the winds where even lower which meant even more boats. This made it really difficult to even spot schools. Eventually Ben and Nathan spotted a big school that were moving quick and chased them for a long way. Second cast in with a popper Nathan's drag was screaming off. Landing his first tuna off the yak getting that reward of many kms and countless casts 👌

With the winds up we fished gentleman's hours the next day and decided to fish near the harbor for kingfish. We tried for hours to get live baits with no success and decided to roll out in front of the lighthouse with squid strips. Unfortunately Tyler's peddles had decided it was no more fishing for him and had to head in. Not far in Nathan was onto his first kingfish from the kayak. We persisted around the area with a heap of boats and Nathan hooked up to a good one that was giving him a real work out and managed to tangle on Ben's squid strip. After what seemed like forever he eventually got the fish up but it did not want to be netted at all hugging below his kayak while we spun around all over the place in the wind. Fortunately it popped up close to me and I was able to net it 👌 we decided to call it a day and troll back in. Out of nowhere just in front of the rock wall Ben's rod screams off and he landed his first kingfish from Australia 😁 not a bad way to end the trip.

Been a long time since we posted on here. Just got back from a few days in East Gippsland enjoying some ripper fishing all on lures. Estuary perch to 45cm, bream up to 42 cm, flathead up to 74cm and trevally and tailor. Hope everyone has a great Christmas and gets plenty of fishing tackle 🤙

Nice trip at the pig pen 🐖 was a grind for most of the day but got couple of nice ones early in the day and then a patch of some real nice ones. Photos of a couple of the bigger ones 1.5kg 44.5cm and a 43cm football making the 40cm fish looks small 🤣

Back onto some gippsland bream. Have missed the light lure fishing for sure and a great way to get on the water in the cooler months 👌 vibes doing most the damage bream up to 45cm and perch to 43cm 😁
