Can you ask for help? Have you ever noticed how there are two types of people in this world? Those who can easily ask for help, and those fiercely independent souls like myself. My dad was the same way, always wanting to do things independently, even when he was struggling. It’s something I inherited, but boy, does it make life harder sometimes!( It's funny, having processed this show for you, I realised I did not ask for your help. See the note at the end. )
We humans are meant to collaborate and share tasks—that’s what makes us so successful. But somewhere along the line, many of us became too proud to ask for help. My car was off the road this week, so I had to ask for a ride to Inverness. It felt weird, but you know what? The person I asked was genuinely happy to help, and we had a great day together.
It got me thinking: why do we resist asking for help so much? Whether a big life challenge or a simple task, we all need support sometimes. I see this all the time as a coach—people banging their heads against the same wall, refusing to ask for help to get through it. There’s no big revelation here, just a reminder: sometimes we have to surrender and ask for that support.
So, where in your life are you struggling, and could you use some help? Maybe it’s a decision you need to make or physical support for a task. Don’t ignore it or procrastinate. Just ask for help—it might solve the problem and let you move on to the next thing. Trust me, it’s worth it!So, how could you help me? Write a comment, Ask a question, or tell me about your experience asking for help.

This release takes us back to October 2021. Miriam had a successful career in finance, working in Fortune 500 companies, getting a PhD, and teaching finance. But she knew there was more to her life.Like all of these conversations, they never date. If you are looking for focus coaching, the link is here. Miriam Ismail exudes passion for life and always has. She credits her optimistic outlook to her mother and says she has always had the capacity to see the positive side of things, even when they are challenging.
Through our conversation you will discover how she has combined her passion and zest for life with her desire to enable others to excel in their own purpose and ‘mission’ in life.

I asked Miriam what she wanted to share with my viewers,, and she responded with three things she wanted to share with you.
The first is to know that we are energy beings with a human experience and are here on a mission. Once we know and understand this, our whole perspective changes.
She recommends treating time efficiently and wisely, focusing on learning, and evolving in whatever topic you are aligned with.
Miriam believes these three things offer the ultimate step to having a fulfilling life. She believes this is because everything we learn takes us further into life, and that is where we will know what our true calling and ‘mission’ in life is.

Although we come at life from different backgrounds and perspectives there is a lot of alignment in what Miriam and I want for our clients. If you would like to learn more about Miriam and her eclectic approach to alternative therapies you will find all the links to her website and social channels at:

In today's shortcast, we're diving into the trio of grit, gratitude, and kindness. Life's ups and downs bring so much color and richness, don't they? Even those pesky parking tickets or bumps in the car park come with a silver lining.
Let's explore how these gritty moments can be opportunities for kindness—both towards ourselves and others. I share a touching story about a friend's experience with the kindness of strangers, showing that human compassion is everywhere, waiting to be unleashed.
We'll also chat about how to cultivate a habit of gratitude, making those tough times seem like small blips in the grand, abundant picture of our lives. By being grateful for everything, we can truly embrace the beauty of life.
So join me as we reflect on how we can all grow a movement of kindness and gratitude in our lives. Thanks for being here with me on this journey. If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to share it with a friend or leave a comment. Catch you next time!

Hey there, it's Paul Harvey here, your midlife coach! Today, I'm diving into the magic of adventure and why it's so important, especially as we get older. This past weekend, I took part in a 100-mile relay race with some amazing teammates, and let me tell you, it was a wild ride!

We pushed ourselves to the limit, supported each other, and discovered the joy of doing something completely out of the ordinary. This experience reminded me of how much we all crave new challenges and adventures, no matter our age.

So, what could you do to shake things up in your life? Maybe it's time to try something new, something that scares you a little. Physical challenges are a great way to engage both mind and body, building resilience and proving to ourselves that we can handle whatever life throws our way.

If you're curious about finding new boundaries in your life, I'd love to chat. But honestly, you don't need me to start exploring—just take that first step and see where it leads. Adventure is out there, waiting for you!

It is Fathers day in the UK and worth a reflection. In fact, this podcast owes its inception from my reflections on my father's life back in 2017.
On this show, we’ll explore the challenges fathers face, the importance of recognizing their contributions, and the impact they have on our lives. From my own experiences as a stay-at-home dad to the lessons learned from my father, this episode is a tribute to all dads out there.
If you've ever struggled with family relationships or wondered how to build better ones, this episode has something for you. Let's celebrate the dads, acknowledge their efforts, and see how we can foster more understanding and connection.

Each of us is looking for a solution to heal our ailments and improve our lives. This podcast documents my health and wellness journey. Where would I be without Running and Yoga? I was speaking to a client this week about the power of Eastern methodologies like Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I have experienced both and enjoyed them. That conversation stayed with me and reminded me of my conversation with Rich Morley.
As with all of these podcast conversations, they are timeless and worth a relisten. If you are looking for focus coaching the link is here. Rich Morley and the healing power of Tai Chi. At 16 Rich Morley was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, by 30 he was medically retired and living on benefits, today he is fully recovered and supporting others to turn their own lives around. How did he do it? Through the healing power of Tai chi.
This remarkable story is a lesson in never giving up, even when the medical profession has given up on you. It is about discovering what is possible beyond medical intervention. And it is about harnessing the power of belief to turn your life around.
As our conversation unfolds, you will gain insight into the history and power of Tai chi, both as an aid to healing and as a martial art practice.

Today, we're diving into the intriguing concept of simplicity vs. complexity. Have you ever noticed how we naturally tend to add more stuff to our lives instead of taking things away? Let's explore why that is and how we can shift our mindset to embrace simplicity.
This week, I was fascinated by a conversation on the Hidden Brain podcast with Leidy Klotz, a professor at Virginia University. He shared a story about building blocks with his child. He would tend towards adding blocks while his son would take them away. It got me thinking about our cultural tendencies to complicate things and how we might benefit from doing the opposite. Do we need all this complexity, or is there a way to live more meaningfully by stripping back? What are we hiding from or masking with the complexity?
Join me as I reflect on my life and the accumulated clutter, especially in our busy schedules. I'll share insights on how saying 'no' can empower and how Eastern philosophies like Buddhism advocate for a simpler, more focused existence. Whether it's our personal lives or business strategies, sometimes less truly is more.
So, here's my invitation to you: take a moment to look at your life and see where you might be adding unnecessary complexity. Could you simplify things and find more joy in the process? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this, so feel free to reach out. Let's chat and maybe even have a conversation about how you can simplify your life, too.

Hey there! It's Paul Harvey, coming at you with another bite-sized episode of the Life, Passion, and Business shortcast. Today, I'm tuning in from a beautiful garden near Berwick, and I want to dive into a topic that causes so much pain – the idea of pushing water uphill or fighting unwinnable battles.
Ever found yourself raging against the world, trying to change things that just won’t budge? Trust me, I've been there and met countless others in the same boat. Sometimes, we get so caught up in resistance that we miss the opportunities for change right in front of us. It's all about attitude and acceptance.
I'll share some insights on how acceptance can open doors to new possibilities, drawing from Stephen Covey's concept of the circle of influence and concern. By shifting our perspective and embracing what's within our control, we can see real change.
Join me in this reflective chat, and let's explore how we can move from frustration to a place of grace and growth. And hey, if you find this helpful, share it with a friend – because sharing is caring and helps others find great content, too.
