Export approval for products harvested by Queensland's East Coast prawn trawling fleet has been renewed for 3 years by the Federal government under the EPBC Act.

This industry works hard to ensure it retains its export approval, sustainably operating in Queensland's prestine waters.

Queensland's largest fishery has been granted a new three-year Commonwealth export approval, ensuring ongoing access to vital international markets.

Just in case you need another reason to get some Queensland wild caught prawns for this festive season:

With average seafood consumption lagging behind the recommended two portions per week, PhD qualified Nutrition Scientist and Dietitian, Dr Joanna McMillan emphasises that wild-caught sustainable prawns are an easy and affordable option that can help us maintain a healthy diet during the summer, while also looking after our ocean. "Wild-caught prawns are high in protein, low in saturated fat, and just 50 grams provide the recommended daily intake of Omega-3 fats. They also provide an array of essential nutrients including iron and zinc, key for an optimal immune system, and iodine, often forgotten about yet crucial for brain function and metabolism."

Remember to ask "Is it local and wild caught"

🎄🦐 Christmas wishes come true … one Honey & Sesame Prawn Skewer at a time.

🔖 SAVE to make for Christmas

And ask for Australian Wild Prawns at your nearest supermarket or seafood retailer.

Honey & Sesame Prawn Skewers

Ingredients
16 large green Australian wild prawns, peeled, tails on
16 bamboo skewers, soaked in warm water
1/2 cup sesame seeds
½ cup panko breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon salt flakes
2 egg whites, beaten
Vegetable oil for deep frying
½ cup honey
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar

Method
Combine the sesame seeds and panko in a small shallow
tray with the salt. Skewer the prawns then brush with
egg white and toss in the sesame mixture. Repeat with
remaining prawns. (Note, if you’re using long skewers,
you will need to trim them)

Half-fill a wok with oil and heat to 180 degrees. In batches, fry the coated prawns then drain on a wire rack set over a tray.

For the golden honey sauce, combine the honey and vinegar and drizzle over to serve ❤️💚

The ABC is suggesting that the LNP will have a clear majority in Queensland. 11 Seats are still in doubt and are not included in the projections below.

QSIA looks forward to working with the new Queensland Government to rebuild the Queensland Commercial Fishing Industry.

We know that our industry is important and it is encouraging to see those members who ALP sought to protect by announcing Net Free Zones, look to be on banana skins. Furthermore, where is the evidence of the "recreational fishing" voting power that some so heavily argued existed?

Thank you to every commercial fisher and the public (the silent majority who are lovers of locally caught seafood) who helped contribute to this result.

Just 50g of prawns will reach your recommended daily intake of Omega 3. And here’s the kicker … To get the same Omega three goodness from chicken you need to consume approximately 300g of chicken breast (that’s 6 x as much!)

Wildly good for you 🦐
