In loving memory of my beautiful father-in-law and friend, Martin Kluwer, who passed away a couple of days ago. Martin was more than family. He was a mentor and source of endless wisdom. His stories of growing up in wartime Holland, sharing ci******es with the N***s, who showed leniency to a curious kid past curfew always left me in awe. His deep, musical knowledge, and unwavering support of my music is a gift I will cherish forever. Scott and I loved watching Count Basie and the Dutch college swing band with him. Martin nurtured qualities in his children like sensitivity, kindness, honesty, compassion, respect, and equality. I’m so blessed to be with Scott. His legacy will always leave an indelible impression on my heart. I will miss you and love you forever, Julia ###

We have lost a great artist and activist. Vale Sinéad O’Connor.
I remember seeing her live with her all female band in Ireland at the Galway music festival. I was there to sing on the same stage a night later, with my own (mostly female) band. (One of the most memorable gigs of my life).
Sinéad was an incredibly heartfelt and emotional Singer. A powerhouse with both her music and life. She stood up for what she believed in. She fought against child abuse. She advocated human rights. She challenged organised religion and pushed anti-racism efforts. She openly struggled with mental health. She was seeker. And she died too young. Far, far too young. Her passing is a huge loss for both the music industry and humanity.

I love the feeling of getting lost in the music, of exploring new sounds and textures. It's like diving into a sea of creativity. My studio is a space where I can be myself, expressing myself without any boundaries. It's a place of freedom and possibility.

My mother's book, 'Maggie,' published by Hachette, is a true masterpiece. The fact that she accomplished this at 73 is a testament to her artistic spirit and she inspires me everyday. ‘Maggie’ has been named the 'Fiction Pick of the Week' in both The Age and the The Sydney Morning Herald and was also chosen as ‘Notable Book’ in The Australian. It’s been in all the major newspapers - which is amazing, considering there has been no publicity for it. Her writing is a source of inspiration to me as an artist, and her book is a must-read.

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this post as I recently learnt of beloved Klaus Schulze’s passing. My condolences to his wife Elfi and his family. It's now become clear why I have been thinking of Klaus very heavily the last 10 days. I had a lovely dream about 10 days ago, where Klaus visited me and showered me with love, and I woke up and felt a sense of urgency to send him an email - but I didn’t act on that, and now it’s something I will regret. I’m not surprised he came to me though, and filled me with such love, as he was a very spiritual man and I know he had a lot of love for me. He effortlessly took on the role of musical father figure. He often told me very proudly and with such loyalty that I was his favourite singer. That was hard for me to take in, but he wanted me to know it. He was unwell, but his death was still unexpected. Just 2 nights ago, I was mesmerised by a crystal that Elfi had given me at Moldau (Klaus’s studio) which I have hanging in my room. It’s been an honour to have sung and co-written on albums of Klaus’s and to have been invited to Germany to sing in his studio. I have many fond memories of being invited to "Moldau" to sing with Klaus, and to have once accompanied him to London also. Moldau is an enchanted and cosy space in the heart of the woods - lost at the end of a dirt road. Elfi would always make me comfortable buying the food I like to eat for breakfast and just being so caring and empathetic. To me Klaus wasn’t the legend that people always speak of, he was a man who shared a passion for music and he was very generous and giving. Once I saw a phone I liked on the wall in his studio (an old fashioned type that I had seen in Paris a week before)..and he said “You like it? You can have it..” and he took his only studio phone off the wall and gave it to me.... I still have that today - it’s very cool and I still love it! He also gave me a sound module out of his rack - but that got ruined on the flight back to Australia. 🙂 The phone though is still in my studio. With Klaus, the story and the legend will live on, and I am grateful for that. I'm lucky to have been included in two wonderful books on the subject by both Greg Allen Olaf Lux and respectively. I feel very blessed to be supported by the wonderful community that is Klaus Schulze & Tangerine Dreamers' High Society Klaus Schulze I appreciate your words popping into my inbox over the years. I thank everyone who writes to me with the love of my work with Klaus. It means a lot, and may mean even more to me now. For a limited time I'm sharing some samples of our work. All my love, Julia xx
