OUT NOW! It’s game day for Will Magnay and the Tasmania JackJumpers and for our OCTOBER edition! This month we had a great chat with Will off the back of his run with the Australian Boomers and as the JackJumpers head into their title defence for season 24/25 of the NBL. It was great hearing all about his childhood spent as a rugby player, his journey to the Olympics with Jack McVeigh and how the fans spur them on during the games.

We also learnt all about how scientist Roxane Bandini-Maeder of Geoneon is using AI to assess disaster risk and delve into the paranormal ahead of Halloween later this month with Sharmaine Mansfield from Tasmania's Most Haunted.

There’s now a huge four pages of What’s On around Hobart and , as well as pages and pages of local news, new openings and people. Grab a copy across Tasmania - in cafes, libraries, retail outlets, Hill Street Grocer in your letterbox and online! Have a great weekend.☀️🤩👌🏼

OUT NOW! Keep an eye out for the September edition hitting the streets and online today. We loved our chat with - her work as a conservationist with Australian Wildlife Conservancy in London has led to meeting her idol, David Attenborough as well as a new goal of getting to Antarctica with Homeward Bound, supporting women in STEMM. Go Lizzy! We also had a great chat with Rokeby Boxer Beau Woods who is about to fight for the Australian super lightweight title next week and with Matthew Evans of Fat Pig Farm, delving deep into the world of milk. Add to that loads of community news, events across Discover Tasmania and more, you’ve got yourself a little mag packed with information for the month ahead - even better if you can read it inside today on this wild weather day. Our June edition is out now! While we’re walking the wintery streets getting this edition out, ex-premier Peter Gutwein will be on an epic walk from Burnie to Hobart raising funds and awareness for Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania. We had a great chat with him about life after politics, his health and his early Tassie life as a migrant. We also caught up with Margaret Sonneman, admin of the huge https://www.facebook.com/groups/auroraaustralis group (300k+ members and growing!), took a look at catering with a cause in Tassie, plus lots of local news, events and stories to see you through June. Grab a copy in one of 400 spots in Hobart, Launceston and across the state, at Hill Street Grocer, in your letterbox or online. Pic by Georgia Claxton.

It’s here! And it’s a big one. This May edition not only marks six years of The Hobart Magazine with a bumper edition, we are also excited to partner with Discover Tasmania to share a 24 page guide to the Off Season in Tasmania this winter. It’s full of people, events and offers from across the island. The wonderful Storyteller Spinks is on our cover (looking very Harry Styles if we do say!) sharing his beautiful words on how to revel in being a winter person. There’s also our regular features including loads of community news, events and people. You can grab a copy at one of our 300 distribution partners in Hobart and in Launceston, in your letterbox, at Hill Street Grocer or online. This month you’ll also see copies at selected outlets around the state, so keep your eyes peeled! We hope you enjoy this edition as much as we enjoyed putting it together! Happy Off Season. 📸 Melanie Kate Creative

November edition OUT NOW! Would you have the mettle to ride a bike all the way from Cockle Creek south of Hobart to Byron Bay? Hobart’s Annie Ford is a marine scientist who is currently riding 4000km north from Tassie to create awareness of a proposal for seismic blasting in oceans off Tassie - she shares her reasons why with us. We also caught up with Chris Twite - he’s a relative newcomer to Hobart as the new artistic director of Dark M**o and creative director of Hobart Current: Epoch (Hobart Current: Epoch Twilight Viewing & Artist Talks) which opens at Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery on 17 November, and we found out more about Tassie Big Things in the wake of Kenny Kennebec, the Big Spud, falling off his perch recently. We also packed in loads of local news, events, people and more. Pick up a copy at Hill Street Grocer, in your letterbox, at one of our 300 distribution partners in Hobart and 35 in Launceston, or online via the link in our bio. Cover pic by Fin Watt.
