As part of Get Online Week and with thanks to funding from Good Things Foundation, on Monday 9th October we have a fun and informative day planned.

At 11am IDCare will be coming along to teach us how to avoid scams, cybercrime and identity theft. After a casual lunch (menu yet to be decided), we will be hearing from local social media and technology guru, Jill Esser. Jill will be teaching us how to get the best use out of some of the more commonly used Apps on our phones. Stay tuned for more details on that one.

Another gorgeous venue for an MC gig this afternoon. Managed to capture both the Lady Douglas River Cruise and it’s sister ship the Shaolin Port Douglas coming back in at sunset.

Beautiful wedding too! Love doing MC gigs as a diversion from writing social media 🙏🏻

We established a Facebook and Insta page for Rachel’s Pool Bar & Restaurant a few weeks ago and introduced them to the world of social media on the 17th of September. We have since created a regular posting schedule and a Melbourne Cup Event which is almost a sell out!

Their reach to date is 10,237 and engagement 1,820 with 190 Facebook followers and 86 Insta followers.

Do you suffer from 'Post-a-phobia'? You know you should be posting but you don't know how, when, or what to post, and when you do finally hit that button you cross your fingers and hope for the best?

Never fear! Here's a few simple tips to get you started:

💜 Decide on a number of posts you can manage each week and set a day to do it (2-3 per week is plenty)
💜 Write down what you business offers, then break it down even further (gives you things to post about)
💜 Spend some time taking pictures of what you offer or use stock pictures from your suppliers, and create a library (that way you're not always trying to find something to post)
💜 Keep it short but meaningful. Let your passion for what you do shine through
💜 Review your posts weekly! What worked and what didn't and why?

Do you hate listening to someone waffle on and just wish they'd get to the point?

Same goes for social media. So how do you reduce all the great things you want to tell people into a short sharp post?

First, try writing down all the things you want to say. Then pick out the key words of what you wrote and re-write it shorter.

For example: Yesterday I went to the shop in town that sells all those cute bowls and I bought one for the party I'm having on the weekend.

Version 2: I bought a cute bowl perfect for parties!

How do you write a good post? There are three main elements to a quality caption.

"Eat the things you hate first" my mother always used to say. Doing something you dread is always hard until you get started and it's the same with social media.
