It was a great pleasure to share lunch with Fiona Lieutier and Liz Hayes today thanks to Clifford Craig Foundation for the Launceston International Women's Day Luncheon.

Liz Hayes was inspiring showing neither gender nor age is a barrier. She made a comment that particularly resonated with me 'your postcode does not dictate what you can do'. This aligns so closely with my vision for access to safe quality healthcare regardless of postcode.

She also challenged my thinking to create my new mantra "it's wonderful to be me".

I look forward to Liz sharing her thoughts on A Nurse Out Where as a keen follower and avid advocate of rural health care.

It is important for leaders to take time to learn and grow. A key message of this conference was not only communicate, listen with intent, take time and also take time for yourself. Leading by example, I took the lunch break to fill my cup (and toes) with salt water and sand.

The International Council of Nurses 2023 campaign aims to shine the light on nurses. After the pandemic, we must ensure nurses continue to be invaluable in the eyes of policy makers, and all those who make decisions financing and ultimately impacting our ability to provide health care.
