A story which appears on the back page of the printed edition of the Narrandera Argus newspaper June 11 2024 has an incorrect story regarding the Narrandera Race Club Fashions on the field for this weekend. The correct story is on the website.
Below is the correct story:
Fashions on the Field in Full Gallop
The Narrandera Cup Day is not only for horse racing enthusiasts but also a chance for
fashionistas to showcase their best outfits at Fashions on the Field.
Participants can enter various categories such as Modern Lady of the Day, Modern Gentleman
of the Day, Modern Couple of the Day, Best Millinery, Tween (13-21), and Junior (0-12).
Judges will be on the lookout for the best winter outfits, focusing on rich jewel tones such as
navy, maroon, deep purple, copper, emerald green, mustard, oranges, tan, as well as classic
black, white, and grey.
Michael Bailey, Racing Manager for the Narrandera Racing Club, anticipates the fashion
competition to be just as entertaining as the races on the day.
“We’re expecting another really good fashions program this year; it will be different fashions as
it’s winter and with this year’s theme, ‘Racing With A Modern Twist’,” Mr Bailey said.
“There are a lot of categories that will be for the locals and the juniors, and the professional
fashionistas will also add a touch of class… It will be a real spectacle and many people will
enjoy it.”
McGrath Real Estate will sponsor this year& #39;s Fashions on the Field, offering a special three-night
accommodation package for the best dressed Modern Lady of the Day. The package includes a
3-night stay in a two-bedroom villa at the 4.1-star Phillip Island Ramada Resort.
Judging will occur after each race, with entrants asked to gather near the judging table before
each race concludes.
The judging sequence will begin with the Little Miss & Master (0-12), followed by the Teen &
Junior Trendsetter (13-21), and then the Best Hat or Millinery entrants.
After the fourth race, the Modern Gentleman of the Day will be judged, followed by the Modern
Couple of the Day after the fifth race. Finally, the Modern Lady of the Day will be judged, and
the winner of the accommodation package will be announced.
Entrants must register for their preferred categories at the Fashions on the Field tent on the day,
before the first race starts at 12 noon.

Resumption of the publication of the Narrandera Argus has been delayed yet again by the necessary recruitment of a journalist due to the current COVID lockdown. It is now expected to be mid to late August before we can resume.
Sincere apologies to our readers and advertisers that we have not resumed publication as expected in July.
Recruitment of a journalist has proved difficult due to COVID lockdowns but interviews are taking place at present and a decision will be made very soon.
We share your disappointment that the paper has not resumed but it was beyond our control. However we are hoping our digital subscribers will remain patient with us for a while longer in these tough times but will understand if you wish to cancel subscriptions. You are able to cancel payments at your end but if there is a problem please feel free to email [email protected]
Your support and understanding until we resume by the end of August would be greatly appreciated but the decision is yours.
As a reward for our current subscribers who remain with us we will extend your digital subscription by a further period of at least a month when we resume.
Stay tuned for further updates which we hope to announce soon and in the meantime stay safe.

The successful applicant will be an all-rounder with the capability to accept classified advertisements, deal with phone, desk and email enquiries and general office duties. NARRANDERA ARGUS
An update on the future of the Argus
Jul 01 2021

The handover of the Narrandera Argus to a new publisher has regrettably been delayed, meaning that in addition to extending the temporary break in print publication we will also cease uploading content to our website for the time being. Rest assured, however, the Argus will be back on a date to be announced as soon as contracts are signed and staffing is in place.

While it was hoped to continue online while the print edition was in recess, this is no longer possible and we sincerely apologise to our readers and supporters.

If you'd like your monthly digital subscription to remain active but would prefer any payments made during this transition period to be refunded, please email [email protected] and we'd be happy to oblige. Of course, no action is necessary if you want to continue supporting local journalism during these tough times for country newspapers – which we at the Argus greatly appreciate.

If you're an annual subscriber and wish to discuss your options, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The Argus has always been dedicated to telling the local news stories that make this great community, where it is something of an icon as it celebrated 140 years of publishing last year.

With the continued support of readers and advertisers the Argus will embrace the necessary changes and continue its proud record of existence as part of Wilkie Watson Publications, an independent publisher of regional newspapers including the Tumut, Temora, Adelong and Gundagai mastheads.

It is hoped this combination of like-minded community-minded newspaper titles will strengthen and secure the future of the Argus for many years to come.

A reminder that the Argus office is currently closed until the changeover is completed

26/06/2021

The Narrandera Argus is currently not in print until a change in masthead ownership takes place which will occur soon. In the meantime you can still get the latest news in digital format on our website. It costs as little as $7.99 a month
