Employers: Don’t let the Halloween weekend creep up on you! 👻

Your employees’ contributions are due by 28 October 📅

Remember, new super changes started from 1 July 2022 and include:
✔️ the super guarantee rate increasing from 10% to 10.5%
✔️ the removal of the $450 super guarantee eligibility threshold. This means employees may be eligible for super, regardless of how much they earn.

Rental property owners 📣

Owning a rental property means that there’s a few extra expenses Zaara could be claiming this tax time! She heard on the news that she may be able to claim deductions for her expenses that directly relate to earning income from her rental property.

These include:
💰 Borrowing expenses
💻 Advertising costs
🔨 Maintenance and repairs

Zaara will also need to figure out which expenses she can claim straight away, and what she’ll need to claim over multiple years.

It’s time for award number 3 in our series… the Retail Award 👗 👖 👞

The Retail Award covers businesses engaged in the retail sale or hire of goods or services for personal, household or business consumption, but does not include certain businesses covered by other awards like pharmacies, stand-alone butcher shops, nurseries and motor vehicles, fuel and parts retailing.

Level 1 Retail employees can perform duties like selling or hiring goods, providing info and assistance to customers, displaying goods and window dressing.

The minimum base hourly rate for a Level 1 adult (21 years of age or older) under the Retail Award is:
🛒 full-time - $23.38
🏪 part-time - $23.38
🛍️ casual - $29.23.

Employees at higher levels of the award are entitled to higher rates of pay and junior employees get a percentage of the adult rate based on their age.
