16/09/2024

Dementia Action Week is 16-22 September.

Dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia, and provisional data suggests it may soon become the leading cause overall. For Australian women, it already holds the top spot.

In 2024, over 421,000 Australians are estimated to be living with dementia. Without a medical breakthrough, this number is projected to exceed 812,500 by 2054. There are also nearly 29,000 people currently living with younger onset dementia, with that figure expected to rise to almost 41,000 by the same year.

Stay tuned to Vision Australia Radio throughout Dementia Action Week for more important facts, news, and discussions. You can visit varadio.org for your local broadcast frequency or ask your smart speaker to play Vision Australia Radio.
