Alexx Hermánn Pianist from Italy, fresh from performing at the Utzon Room, Sydney Opera House. What a thrill for Alexx to perform in the House.

Monica Prieto aka 'Carmon' is a neurodivergent indie-folk-pop singer-songwriter inspired by artists like Lizzy McAlpine, Phoebe Bridgers, and Joni Mitchell. Her heartfelt songs blend smooth melodic tones and explore themes like mental health, anxiety, and self-discovery.

Her goal through music is to help break the stigma around mental health. She released a single ‘Skeletons’ from her upcoming album. She performs around Sydney with her band, Vampire Vampire

This tune was used in the movie 'Sun Valley Serenade' and so to continue the 2025 Down Memory Lane project of playing soundtracks - this will be the feature soundtrack for today. Bob’s guest is a man who was closely involved behind the scenes in the 1950s and early 1960s with flamboyant entrepreneur Lee Gordon (pictured) who was the first to bring many American artists of the era to perform here in Australia, whereas previously we heard most of them only on record. The name of Bob’s guest is Alan Heffernan and he has many fascinating stories to tell about bringing those artists to Australia.

Join Robbie today as he chats with American 1960s pop star, Tommy Roe!

Tommy Roe rose to fame in 1962 with his big hit Sheila, hitting the number one spot in the USA, the UK and Australia.

In 1963 Tommy Roe and his good friend Chris Montez headlined a tour of England, with relatively unknown support group,The Beatles. During this tour The Beatles second single, Please Please Me hit the number one spot kicking off Beatlemania, The Beatles then became the headline act for the rest of the tour as nobody wanted to follow them on stage.

Tommy Roe had a string of hits during the 60s including Everybody, The Folk Singer, Party Girl. Sweet Pea and Hooray For Hazel . In 1969 Tommy Hit the top of the charts again with his signature tune Dizzy, followed by major hits Heather Honey and Jam Up And Jelly Tight. By this stage Tommy had been crowned the King of Bubblegum!

Tune in to hear about Tommy's rise to fame from humble beginnings in Atlanta, Georgia and his 1960s journey as told in his 2016 autobiography - From Cabbagetown To Tinseltown.
