NSW police officer Benedict Bryant, 47, has been found guilty of dangerous driving occasioning the death of 18-year-old Dunghutti teen Jai Kalani Wright, who died following a police chase in inner-Sydney in February 2022. The verdict marks a rare case of police accountability, but for Jai’s family justice is not the end point. They are calling for systemic change to ensure no more young people are lost in the same way.

In 1990, 16-year-old Karen Williams went out in the remote mining town of Coober Pedy. She has never been seen or heard from again.

Lavene, who is Karen's first cousin-once removed, says the family still holds hope for Karen's return.

"They've had her for 35 years. Don't cheat us. Give her back to us so we can give her the rite of passage in relation to our culture, our faith, our understanding ..."
