Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Traditional Owners have lodged a formal native title claim over the area now known as Melbourne, marking a historic step in recognising their ongoing connection to Country. The claim spans nearly 200 kilometres, from the Werribee River to Mount Gregory, and represents generations of advocacy for the right to speak for land, water and sky. For many, it’s a long-awaited moment to reaffirm identity, culture and belonging in the heart of the city.
