2025 LOOK BACK: NRL great Johnathan Thurston and AFL superstar Lance “Buddy” Franklin have tackled the famous New York City Marathon as part of the Indigenous Marathon Foundation’s 2025 squad. Thurston crossed the line in 3 hours and 43 minutes, with Franklin just six minutes behind. Both described it as the toughest but most rewarding challenge they’ve ever faced, joining 13 other Australian First Nations runners in one of the world’s biggest races.
