UPDATED: Rory Amon charged with s*x crimes, quits Liberals & Parliament

Pittwater MP Rory Amon has been charged by police with historical s*x crimes.
Mr Amon was charged with five counts of having s*xual in*******se with a child between the age of 10 and 14 after he was arrested at Manly Police Station at 6am on Friday (August 30).
Mr Amon denies all charges.
He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear in Manly Local Court on 18 September.
Mr Amon quit the Liberal Party and resigned from Parliament.
As a result a byelection will be held for the vacant seat of Pittwater.
In a statement, NSW Police said: “A man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged s*xual assault on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
“In June 2022, Detectives attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports of an alleged s*xual assault in Mona Vale in July 2017.
“Police were told a teenage boy was allegedly s*xually assaulted by a man – who was known to him – at an address in Mona Vale.
“In March 2023, Strike Force NOORAL was established to investigate the incident.
“Following extensive inquiries, a 35-year-old man was arrested at Manly Police Station about 6am today (Friday 30 August 2024).
“He was charged with five counts have s*xual in*******se with person over 10 & under 14, two counts attempt s*xual in*******se child over 10 under 14, two counts indecent assault person under 16 years of age and commit act of indecency with person under 16 years.
“The man was given strict conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on 18 September 2024.
“Inquiries are continuing.”
Late on Friday Mr Amon quit the Liberal Party and resigned from parliament at the request of Opposition Leader Mark Speakman.
A statement from Mr Speakman said that, while Mr Amon was “entitled to the presumption of innocence”, the citizens of Pittwater were entitled to have an MP who could “discharge their duties in the community fully”.
“I therefore asked Mr Amon to resign from the NSW Parliament effective immediately. He has tendered his resignation to the Speaker,” Mr Speakman said.
In a statement Mr Amon said: "I deny all charges and will make my case in the courts, not in the media. Accordingly, I will make no further comment on the case."

Diary note! The organisers of the inaugural ‘Battle of the Beaches’ have reluctantly postponed competition day until Saturday April 6 due to poor surf conditions.

Unfortunately, the swell has decided not to cooperate with us tomorrow and has made the contest too small to surf, we will have to postpone our inaugural "Battle of the Beaches" until April 6th, praying Huey provides us with a monster swell! We will still have the Oasis Tribute Band on from 8pm Saturday playing LIVE AND LOUD BABY! Manly Sea Eagles kicking off the NRL season Sunday avo, plenty on at Park House this weekend. GIDDY UP!
