My latest documentary with Oorala centre at UNE was a real treat. This man Uncle Colin Ahoy helped me get into university back in 2002 and inspired me along the way. I probably would not have taken on the job if Uncle Col wasn’t apart of the project and such an inspiration in my life.

I still remember the newspaper clipping hanging above his desk in the early 2000’s. A picture of Unk all up in Pauline Hanson’s face as she tried to tour Armidale Mall. It was this photo that ensured me it’s ok to push back against people who are doing the wrong thing, no matter who they are.

I’m on a very special project atm. Working with my mentor of 15 years on his last project alongside someone I hope to do a lot more work with in the future, . Anthony is following his family roots in an educational documentary for the UNE. This project will show young Aboriginal and TI people’s how to research their own history.

It’s a really emotional journey working alongside Laszlo Szabo for his final project before his retirement. The amount of research and pre-production that has gone into this is extraordinary.

In 2017 Grace Karskens stumbled across an extraordinary manuscript: a handwritten list created in 1829 of 178 Aboriginal place names for Dyarubbin and Ganangdayi, also known as the Hawkesbury and Macdonald Rivers in New South Wales. A team of Darug researchers, educators, linguists, artists, geologi...

Spears are packed and so are my bags. My first trip overseas was a great one thanks to the Kamay community, AIATSIS team and the Blacklock Media team.

Massive thanks to Dena Mouna-Curtis for her help on this one. Director extraordinaire, my hat goes off to you.

Thank you to Lauren Cordingley for being the amazing mum and supportive wife for looking after our 3 boys while I chase my dreams overseas.

To Emirates thanks for leaving most of the camera equipment I needed in Dubai. Here is a photo of me operating handheld because my easyrig was in Dubai. The struggle was real 😜

The Gweagal / Kamay spears are on their way home very soon. Which means my time in the UK is coming to an end. Only a few more days until like the spears I return to family. What a ride…

The Kamay spear are coming home.

Four spears stolen by Captain James Cook and his crew after he arrived at Botany Bay more than 250 years ago are handed back to traditional owners at a ceremony in England, in what is among the most significant repatriations of Indigenous objects to date.

It’s the projects that don’t get made that upset me the most. Screen grab from a fallen project with Shane Salvador.
