Auburn Poets and Writers Page poetry reading tonight at WestWords. I read 2 poems and told a lie, a story to trick people.

There were a wonderful group of poets offering very powerful poems beautifully and skilfully performed.

Week 3 of inktober, I did one extra. This exercise pushes me to be creative, to grow technically but also to face your limitations as well.

I love one of the Irish origin stories of the jack-o-lantern.

Jack bragged he was such a good fight he coukd beat the devil. Devil heard and took up the challenge.

They bet was if Jack won he wouldn't go to hell. They fought for about a week and Jack won.

Knowing he wouldn't go to hell Jack lived a very free life, sinning.

When he died heaven wouldn't let him in. So he wandered for a while but it wasn't pleasant.

So he went hell but the devil said he had to honour the bet so woukdclet him in. As Jack was leaving the devil gave him a turnip to eat on his travels and threw a coal of hell to light his way which Jack carried in the turnip because it was too hot.

Pumpkin are from the Americas so they were added later.

Here's a thought not being addressed.

Republicans present a parallel between the BLM protests and January 6th. The relationship with authority is key. Suggesting that Democrats are being hypocritical to get on their high horse about protesting.

The difference republicans don't get or acknowledge is that BLM and previous leftvprotest movements were protesting against authority, wanting to get the authorities to live up to the ideals, values and laws of the Republic. Jan 6th aimed to break down of those ideals, values and systems of the Republic.
