The missing link in organisational change efforts – MindNavigator strikes again!

It is well accepted that behaviours impact results, yet what is often missed (or dismissed, at organisational peril) is that mindset determines behaviour – and therefore results.

This fact has been largely overlooked because few have truly understood how to sustainably create agile, accountable and innovative mindsets at scale.

MindNavigator Technologies has unlocked these secrets and is continuing to cause quite a stir in the OD community and has been recognised yet again by being awarded the Most Innovative Organisational Performance Firm of 2021 by Acquisition International.

HBR research suggests organisational speed can be boosted by actually slowing down and taking the time to think and be creative.

We know change starts with the individual, so you might like to try this simple technique for overcoming auto-pilot and enhancing mental clarity:

Every time you approach your desk/work area - first thing in the morning, after making a cuppa, or eating lunch etc. - slow your speed by half. Slow down, take a deep breath, look around you and notice what’s happening right now. Give yourself that moment of reflection so you can decide purposefully what to focus your attention on next.

Over time your working day can become full of these little moments of clarity. You might be surprised by what a difference small positive acts like this can have on productivity.

In business, there’s a speed gap: It’s the difference between how important a firm’s leaders say speed is to their competitive strategy and how fast the company actually moves. That gap is significant regardless of region, industry, company size, or strategic emphasis. Organizations fearful of...

In the push towards greater diversity and inclusion, what if we prized understanding one another’s experience and the thinking that sits behind that experience?

Would that move the dial more meaningfully?

Gary Turner writes, ‘It is all in our mind…Consider that every ‘ism’ is thought-created and made-up by humans: sexism, racism, ageism and so on, which means they can be un-made by us too.
To un-do these deep-held beliefs (and that is all they are, they aren’t real ‘things’!), whether consciously or unconsciously held, is the work we all need to be doing in both HR and leadership roles and as individuals.’

As we enter the final part of this three-part series, '

TRUST
We've been a fan of Rachel's since we heard her speak at the WOBI conference we featured at earlier this year. Here, she offers some great insights into key elements of trust - competence; reliability; integrity; and benevolence. Those of you that have attended our workshops know of our case study around a coaching organisation with low trust that we researched some years back, with very similar findings.
How do you, your team, and your organisation stack up?

Academic and author Rachel Botsman encourages HR professionals to focus on ‘small actions’ that will restore trust in business

"I wonder what the implications would be if all students were also explicitly trained to believe that we are all part of the same fundamental humanity, actively showing students through group discussions and activities how we all have insecurities and imperfections, and how underneath the superficial differences in opinions and political beliefs, we all have the same fundamental needs for connection, purpose, and to matter in this vast universe." - Scott Barry Kaufman.

New research suggests a belief in oneness has broad implications for psychological functioning and compassion for those are outside of our immediate circle.

Heart-lifting Friday!
There's nothing 'wrong' about having a coffee, restaurant meal, or anything on your own.
How comfortable are you to simply be with yourself? If you're not, it's a beautiful point of enquiry.
There's also something wonderful about connecting, we are social creatures and storytellers. As I watched this, I recalled an evening alone in a Melbourne restaurant, catching another's gaze and so walked over, just as these children did. I didn't ask him about money :-) but I did learn about his long tenure as a university professor, his family, what was meaningful to him, as we ate together. And a visit to an art gallery, locking eyes with another woman after which we shared stories and parted ways with watery eyes, moved by the experience.
How do you connect and engage with the people around you?
PS - Mirror neurons folks - smiling is infectious!
