TVB Australia is the largest Chinese television platform in Australia and has been operating since May 2000. Television Broadcast Limited (TVB) in Hong Kong, one of the largest producers of Asian dramas and content widely distributed in Australia, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam. With over 130,000 daily viewers and over 24,000 household subscribers and commercial outlets, TVB Australia has the largest reach within all Chinese medias in Australia consisting of television, print, and online platforms. In 2015, TVB Australia has launched a new internet television service – TVB Anywhere. TVB Anywhere provides a premium selection of over 50 channels from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan 24 hours a day, becoming an essential entertainment platform for local Chinese and Vietnamese communities. To enhance the connection with local communities, TVB Australia has established a number of locally produced programs. The free monthly magazine “Octopus” is distributed around the nation with over 25,000 copies – the highest circulating freely distributed monthly Chinese magazine in Australia. Further, large-scale local events are held annually, including “TVB Australia Carnival”, “Miss Australia Chinese Pageant” and “TVB International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship”. For the first time in 2015, TVB Australia also organised “The Voice of China” and “Sing My Song” Australian auditions, gaining the spotlight of many communities. TVB Australia hopes to actively be involved with local communities by collaborating with various charities to host events and shows to fundraise for those in need.
