Ruth speaks with Cobalt Walsh - a name you want to remember! You heard him interviewed first here on Connect FM 100.9. Cobalt is an incredible young man who has a great story to tell about Scouts, where it has taken him, why he gave up cricket and his plans for the future!

Ruth also chats about the Australia Day long weekend and events in the area. City of Canterbury Bankstown hosted the Australia Day award ceremony, including the nominees Keith Donnelly of Keith's Closet, Connect FM, and some of the amazing winners!

AFL legend and MND warrior Neale Daniher, raising more than $100 million towards finding a cure for the degenerative condition, has been named the 2025 Australian of the Year.

Former Essendon champion and Melbourne coach has been battling the effects of MND – a condition which progressively damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord responsible for controling muscles – for more than a decade.

Sydney based station volunteer Marilie Bomediano hosts a weekly program for the Filipino-Australian community, Radio Rizal on Wednesdays 1-2PM. Marilie has been a part of the Connect FM 100.9 - Bankstown Auburn Community Radio program line up for over 10 years now. Her energy is uplifting and she radiates positivity during her hourly show!

Community radio is an inclusive platform reaching different ethnic groups within our broadcast area and beyond, delivering important messages, often filling a gap left by mainstream stations.

Marilie’s program contributes to the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities of Bankstown, Auburn areas, featuring health and community updates, events, local and international news, promoting peace and harmony to her audience.

With degrees in tourism and journalism for over 40 years, she’s been involved in the media for decades and also works in newspaper, magazine and TV. A dedicated volunteer to the Filipino-Australian community, you’ll see Marilie out and about at various community events which include fundraising and community projects alongside the Rotary Club. Marilie is a HWPL Ambassador Australia (International World Peace).

Don’t forget to tune in each Wednesday for Radio Rizal on Connect FM 100.9. Connect FM invites station volunteers from the First Nations and all ethnicities. If you’d like to join our team, find out more by emailing [email protected]
