🎷 Australia’s largest rock n roll and nostalgia festival 🥁 Cooly Rocks On has kicked off in Coolangatta 💃🕺

The festival has been buzzing with hot rod cars, thousands of Elvis impersonators - even the world’s most famous Elvis will perhaps make an appearance later this week😱

Our Campaign Manager Emily Fagan is on the ground this year - enjoying all the rock n roll vibes the festival has to offer!

The festival will run from Wednesday 5th - Sunday 9th 🥰

🙌 A huge news day for our client 👏

For the first time in New South Wales M**A assisted psychotherapy will be delivered in a phase four clinical trial for people with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Associate Professor Gunewardene held a press conference this morning, along with patients who will undergo the treatment - as part of the approved clinical trial under the TGA.

The story was in the Sydney Morning Herald - along with radio news grabs, a press conference with all TV networks attending. As well as in-studio desk chats for early afternoon news programs on Channel 10, 7 and 9. 📰🗞📺

😍 This is little Azariah who was thrilled to be in the paper! 🥰

Five-year-old Azariah Harb was born with congenital heart disease and in her short life has already had three open heart surgeries.

Like thousands of others with similar conditions, there is the chance that one day Azariah may need a heart transplant.

A research breakthrough from the Heart Research Institute could prevent that.

Dr Carmine Gentile and his team have developed a “mini-heart”, a patch made from the patient’s own cells, using a bio printer, that can be folded and inserted via keyhole surgery to repair the damage to the heart, eliminating the need for invasive surgery or a donor heart. 🫀💓

HRI needs more funding to take this research from the benchtop to the bedside. 🤗

A little story time from our Campaign Director Amie Meehan ❤️

Let’s hear it for the girls! 🙌

My mum Aileen was my strongest supporter when I fought breast cancer six years ago and was often by chemo buddy during treatment.

Unfortunately our family is no stranger to cancer. Mum’s dad and my grandfather Peter, died of cancer at just 38. His death really has shaped mum’s life.

We don’t want other families to endure what we have had too.

That’s why Mum and I are braving the sh*tbox rally for a second straight year, this time driving from Adelaide to Perth in a trusty Ford Falcon worth no more than $1,500.

I suspect it will be the greatest test of our relationship, with me behind the wheel and mum as my “expert” map reader and snack distributor.

We have no sense of direction, we know nothing about cars and can’t change a tyre to save ourselves. It’ll be fun! 🚗

The Box Rallies has raised more than $35M for the Cancer Council in the last 13 years, through rally events just like this, supporting the top research projects into cancer research that miss out on funding through the federal govt.

It’s a shocking statistic but one in two of us will get cancer by the age of 85. I was 36. But that’s all behind me and this rally is about raising money so that in the future cancer won’t be the dirty “C” word we fear.

It's certainly going to be an adventure, we've already got a 1200km detour and we haven't even left yet.
