My Story

www.cheralyndarcey.com I am a gardener with a passion for ethnobotany, art and sharing my lifetime of plant research, experiences and discoveries through my now almost 20 published botanical books and decks. A spiritual naturalist, a botanical alchemist (I make things with plants!), organic gardener, sustainable florist, environmental artist and I’m the author and illustrator of over twenty botanical titles that share with readers my passion for plants and their relationships with us. Living on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, I have created and nurture my own extensive flower, vegetable and interesting plant home garden that is my creative and spiritual sanctuary. Currently I am a member of the Toukley Arts Society; an Australian Museum volunteer, (transcribing specimen labels); and a community gardening volunteer. I have a lifelong connection with exploration of the many faceted properties of plants, botanical, mythological, spiritual, medicinal, culinary, in fact our whole connection with the Plant World and I have been sharing my passion for nature and its care for over 30 years. This includes community volunteer work and my exhibitions, workshops, articles and presentations with organisations and institutions such as the Australian Museum, Manly Environment Centre, Ocean Care Week, International Conference for Eco Ideas, Clean Up Australia Day, local schools, youth groups, community events and many other projects. A regular special guest on national morning television, ABC radio and radio stations throughout the world, I am often asked to share the cultural and historical significance of our gardens, plant and floral traditions. My garden and work have been featured in magazines such as Australian Organic Garden, Harpers Bazaar, Country Living and various national and international magazines along with international inflight magazines. The titles I create go a little way to ensuring that wherever you are in this world, the power of the language of plants through their messages and songs and profound healing powers will now be in your hands always. may nature always bless you and may you be the blessing nature needs, Cheralyn 🌻
