On Sunday 2 of February, in Villers-Bretonneux, in the Somme country in France, more than 700 people walked for 3 kms in a windy day, to express their solidarity with Australia, affected by the bushfires. Particularly moved by this initiative, the Ambassador of Australia in France Brendan Berne, joined the walk. 4000 people currently live in Villers-Bretonneux, a town known for being "the most Australian town of France". The place has indeed very strong links with the island, since thousands of Australians sacrificed their lives to protect the residents during the First World War. The walkers went to the Australian National Memorial on the top of a hill, where 2000 Aussies have eternal rest and where ANZAC Day is celebrated every year in April. An opportunity for the visitors to discover the Centre Sir John Monash, at the cutting edge of technology for an immersive experience of the conflict. The touching songs of the Villers-Bretonneux kids' chorus were combined with the testimony of the soldiers, immortalized on the videos of that time.
