Australian icons lives on in architectural history and memorialised in Hollywood.

“All the children in the world are my children” – a quote from Australian Author and Illustrator May Gibbs, well known for her Classic Children’s Books based on Australian Flora to become the famous Gumnut Babies, Snugglepot, Cuddlepie and Flannel Flower Babies.

After her passing, May’s abode - nestled on the northern shore of Sydney - becomes a historic museum in 1994. And the setting of May Gibbs’s loungeroom becomes the scene for a New Year’s Even party in the film ‘Ladies in Black’ featuring renowned actors Rachael Taylor, Julia Ormond and Shane Jacobson.

Parts of the movie were also filmed in David Jones, Sydney Tramway Museum in Loftus and the Hydro Majestic Hotel in the Blue Mountains.

Walking through May’s home and gardens was a pure delight. Check out the photos here: https://loom.ly/W2iuCXA
