Getting creative with themed drinks will help increase your beverage revenue, but more importantly get your customers excited about something new.

LET’S TALK BEVERAGE PROMOTIONS & BRAND ACTIVATIONS!! 🥃 🗣️

Do you offer promotions in your venue?
Are you activating your promotions to their full potential?
Have you built a great relationship with your reps?
Does your marketing person look after your promotions and activations?

If you answered no to any of these questions your venue and patrons are missing out!

I’ve seen it before, managers growning when the rep walks in because they think all they want to do is ram products down their throats.
But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Sure, reps are there to sell products BUT they offer so much more support when it comes to promoting products and helping with brand awareness.

The problem I see in venues is that it’s usually a Bar Manager, Food and Beverage Manager or Operations Manager who look after beverage ordering and their promotions.
THERE’S THE MISTAKE! 😳
You see, these managers are good at the operation side of the business, but not so great when it comes to the “Sales & Marketing” of their products!
By involving a qualified marketing person in the process of choosing what promotions to go with, your venue will have the best chance at a successful promotion.

To run a successful promotion you must:
🍸 Build great relationships with brand partners - they will be more willing to give you more!

🍸 PLAN beverage promos in a promotional calendar - this is imperative so you don’t have overlapping activations. A marketing person will know how to team up a promotion with a seasonal event to get the best outcome.

🍸 Get creative and set up eye catching visual displays - Customers purchase with their eyes! Your rep can help you with branded merch and signage. keep it professional looking and true to the brand. Make sure its in key locations for maximum exposure.

🍸 Brief your staff!! THIS IS A BIG ONE! Make sure ALL staff are aware of a new product or promotion. Get them excited about it, they are the ones selling it!

There’s nothing more frustrating than an outdated website, right?!😉

IS YOURS UP TO DATE? 🤔

It’s imperative that your website represents your brand, but it’s even more important to ensure all your information is correct and current, otherwise your brand’s reputation is in serious jeopardy. How can your customers, patrons or audience take your business seriously if your information isn’t correct?

Did you also know that whenever you change a landing page link you need to change it across all your social media accounts and ads?

If you have someone in-house without proper training updating your website here and there, they could be costing you more in the long run.
Consider hiring a digital marketer to look after your website and socials, it will cost you less than you think. CONTENT REPURPOSING, DO YOU PRACTICE THIS❓
Reusing images for content creation can have many benefits, such as save time, maintain a consistent visual theme, and reinforce brand identity.

To repurpose photos for content creation effectively, consider cropping, adjusting colors, adding text overlays, or combining multiple images. Ensure the new context aligns with your content’s message and maintains visual appeal.

A common mistake I see quite often is when venue’s repost photos from old photos shoots that are no longer relevant, or don’t align with the copy, promotion or message they are trying to share.
This is often the result of using an external social media manager or marketing agency who doesn’t understand hospitality and isn’t up to date with a venues ever changing offerings.
Constant communication between venue management and the marketing team is the key and absolutely vital to ensure what you are advertising is correct and appealing to the target audience.

DID YOU KNOW❓🤔
Most social media users including your current customers already following you are turned off quickly when brands overshare promotions.

DO YOU AGREE❓

This can quickly lead to “unfollows”!!

A lot of venues make the mistake of assuming that what’s valuable to them is also important to their audience. Therefore they use their social platforms to “sell, sell, sell”, rather than considering what really matters to people they’re trying to reach, or more importantly keep!

So instead of using your social platforms to broadcast, try to use social media to join conversations that are already happening.
Listen to what your audience is already discussing, research what your competitors are doing well, read what influencers are writing - then create and post content that will appeal to your audience.

It may be worth considering the 5-3-2 rule for every 10 posts you publish:
🍸5 should be curation - sharing others’ content.

🍸3 should be creation - relevant content you’ve produced yourself.

🍸2 should be humanisation - personal, fun and relaxed content that humanises your brand!

If you want to promote your “Steak Night” on Facebook and Instagram, consider a drool worthy photo of one of your mouth watering steaks (never a stock image) instead of a promo flyer/poster. Keep the poster artwork for in house advertising.
