This Sunday the GIN & TARDIS boys tackle the DOCTOR WHO MOVIE, a couple of days shy of its 30th anniversary. 30 years. Blimey. See you Sunday.

Observe the BBC trying, for the third time in recent memory, to make people buy books, audios, comics, etc, to piece together a story.

This format has worked so well in the past... not. Who can forget the laughable Doom's Day?

Particularly in a cost of living crisis, this is quite tin-eared. While I don't deny the Fugitive Doctor interests people, all of these media are niche to begin with, and will sell even less because people won't buy every part. And some won't buy any at all, concluding that given they won't buy every part, there's not much point to owning random pieces of a connected multi-part story. - Rob

I was happy to mention this but was in two minds about linking to it directly yesterday with James Valentine's passing as it might have been misinterpreted on some levels.

But a day on, and with some encouragement that it's a nice reminder about James' excellent work on The Afternoon Show, this is the story of our local Doctor Who club, Time Flight, going on TV to celebrate 25 years of Doctor Who.

Because we've already recorded this Sunday's BLOOD HARVEST episode, there'll be no record of James Valentine's passing on it and I wanted to say 'something' for what it's worth. James wasn't just part of my personal Doctor Who backstory, thanks to me being on his TV show once, but anyone watching the Sylvester McCoy era in Australia on first broadcast would have seen James introduce each episode as it went out. In that way, he's part of many people's backstory.

So, I've dusted off the DON'T READ THE COMMENTS segment for a moment in time when, for once, I was actually really proud to 'read the comments'.

On your podcatcher of choice or stream it below. Thanks.

Vale, James Valentine. Anyone who has seen my 'I Was A Teenage Time Lord' documentary will know how excited I was to meet him and be on the Afternoon Show back in 1988. I feel like a part of my youth has slipped away.

The presenter and professional saxophone player is being remembered for his ability to explore the humour and oddities of daily life on the airwaves.

to a time when Doctor Who concentrated on just being odd and madcap and having a good time with its audience each week. It's not a rocket science formula. Get the show back to doing this and it's on the road to recovery. Guaranteed.
