The Gypsy Hot Club was the love-child of Gypsy-Klezmer singer/songwriter best known Yaron Hallis, and he nurtured it for well over a decade. Best known as the lead singer of ARIA Award winning band Monsieur Camembert, Yaron created the only radio show in Sydney that supports Gypsy Jazz and Hot Club Swing, with a regular and reliable guide to live and local gigs in the genre. In 2018 he handed over

the hot seat to Hannah Murray, who continues to share Gypsy Jazz, World and Folk music and the 'Hot Club Gig Guide ~ Live and Local' every Monday at 6.30PM on 89.7FM Eastside Radio.

I am so incredibly beyond honoured to announce that last week I was awarded Eastside Radio's Young Volunteer of the Year Award!

Eastside Radio has opened my life up to meeting so many incredible people, engaging with new ideas and opportunities, and of course, its given me the ability to showcase Australian talent and share the music I love with passionate listeners.

Our Story

The Gypsy Hot Club is Sydney (and Australia’s) home on the airwaves for Gypsy Music and Hot Club Swing – and has been so for well over a decade. The love-child of Yaron Hallis, best known as the lead singer of 3x ARIA Award winning band Monsieur Camembert, Yaron also relishes a much wider musical palette. His mantra is to traverse any music he finds inspiring, irrespective of style and genre, in a kaleidoscopic 90 minutes that sees traditional Romany music co-exist with Bowie, Piazzolla, Klezmer, The Kinks and way beyond!

In 2018 he shares the hot seat with Hannah Murray, a member of the Sydney band Baltic Bar Mitzvah, who continues to share Gypsy Swing, Balkan, Klezmer and many other wonderful sounds. And…at about 730pm, both Yaron and Hannah also feature a regular segment on the show - ‘The Gypsy Hot Club Gig Guide’ – a regular and reliable round-up of live and local gigs associated with the music heard at the Gypsy Hot Club!
