If you're seriously thinking of starting your own recruitment agency, I'd say give it a crack, you don't know what you're made of until you've done it.
It's definitely not for everyone and every agency owner I know has had big challenges but that shouldn't stop you. Just go in with your eyes wide open.
Your words have power and when you challenge them with three words - is it true? Then it unlocks so many things.
Recruiters are very goal driven but sometimes our limiting beliefs can create blocks to achieving these goals. There is so much value to asking yourself if the blocks are genuine or not.
Happiness is a choice.
Of course we can't be happy all the time but if you're prepared to do the work, you will find yourself with far better mental health overall.
Stuff happens that we can't control, we can only control how we react.
Don't ever dismiss a potential client because you haven't yet had success with them or you've found them prickly in the past.
We just got in with a client after 10 years!
Persistence really pays off.

Which isn't to say you will always be happy. But there are often silver linings and we need to train our minds to look for these. It's very powerful when you're able to take control of your mindset.

We all have negative limiting beliefs and more often than not they're not true.
Words are powerful and we should all take the time to reflect on the narratives we're telling ourselves.

This one has stuck with me and it's around utilising when you're in state.
When you're in state and feeling motivated but you can take action immediately. You need to book something that will chase you!

There are a few key strategies that led to success. One was securing retainer business, second was closing a couple of challenging $30K placements where persistence paid off in overcoming deal obstacles.
Finally, I followed the '86% rule' β ensuring candidates had three or more interviews β which increased deal success rates.
It is vital to articulate your value!
Young recruiters often struggle with highlighting their value because of a lack of experience. In reality there are always strengths to draw from such as the reputation of the company you work for or the fact that you're new so you don't yet have limitations on where you can headhunt.
Hope is not a strategy!
Having a huge volume of activities isn't going to help if there's no quality there. It's a rare occasion where volume of work should be the top priority.
If you're trying to make money you need quality and quantity.
Feeling nervous and excited trigger the SAME reaction. You get butterflies for both.
A lot of recruiters when they're starting out get very nervous about client meetings. My advice is to reframe it and reprogram your brain to feel excited about the possibility.
