Australian screenwriter and producer David Peterson recently spent a week in Makerupu Village, Central Province, Papua New Guinea, gathering stories and interviewing locals for the upcoming feature film tentatively titled "Tatini".

Peterson is working closely with director Richard Sergeant of Zolard Media to develop the screenplay for this romantic drama set in the 60s and 70s in Central Province. During his visit, he also explored nearby villages, including Kalo, Babaka, Hula, and Kamali, immersing himself in the local culture and traditions to ensure the authentic storytelling.

In addition to his work as a writer, Peterson is a film editor and software developer with a passion for connecting cultures through storytelling. Raised in Papua New Guinea and with teaching experience in Ethiopia, he co-created "Beyond Strange Lands" and won the 2020 John Hinde Award for his sci-fi drama "Untethered". His editing credits include celebrated works like "Bluey" and "Post Mortem Mary".

At Zolard Media, we know how fast-paced and demanding life can get, especially in the creative industry. But today, on R U OK? Day, we’re reminded of the importance of pausing and checking in on each other.

It’s easy to get caught up in deadlines, projects, and daily challenges, but sometimes, all someone needs is a simple "Are you OK?" to start a meaningful conversation. You never know what’s happening behind the scenes in someone’s life.

Remember, it's OK to not be OK, and there’s always someone willing to listen.

Family and Friends in Canberra. Wounded Warriors is coming to you. Don't miss it. :D

Join us in Canberra on Wednesday 4th September for a screening of the incredible film, Wounded Warriors!

Wounded Warriors follows a young Papua New Guinean father on his journey to breaking the cycle of intergenerational violence.

The Papua New Guinea Women's Association of Victoria produced the film with PNG-Australian film crew, Zolard Media, as part of the campaign. Funded by the Victoria State Government, the campaign aims to end harmful narratives around intergenerational cycles of violence, and to raise awareness of family and gender-based violence in PNG.

Proceeds from the night will support FemiliPNG Australia and PNGWAV's work to address family violence in PNG.

We're thrilled to reveal our most ambitious project yet—a feature film titled "Tatini"! Inspired by a true story from Papua New Guinea, "Tatini" spans the years 1957 to 1975, weaving together themes of string band music, rich cultural traditions, and a tale of forbidden love.

Currently, "Tatini" is in the development phase, and we’re excited to collaborate with a talented team of Australian and Papua New Guinean producers. Check out the concept poster below!

Stay tuned and follow our page for the latest updates as this incredible story comes to life. Please share this exciting journey with us!
