Australian screenwriter and producer David Peterson recently spent a week in Makerupu Village, Central Province, Papua New Guinea, gathering stories and interviewing locals for the upcoming feature film tentatively titled "Tatini".
Peterson is working closely with director Richard Sergeant of Zolard Media to develop the screenplay for this romantic drama set in the 60s and 70s in Central Province. During his visit, he also explored nearby villages, including Kalo, Babaka, Hula, and Kamali, immersing himself in the local culture and traditions to ensure the authentic storytelling.
In addition to his work as a writer, Peterson is a film editor and software developer with a passion for connecting cultures through storytelling. Raised in Papua New Guinea and with teaching experience in Ethiopia, he co-created "Beyond Strange Lands" and won the 2020 John Hinde Award for his sci-fi drama "Untethered".
