Casey just loves to fish, if there was a school that taught you everything about fishing 🎣 he would go 7 days a week, 12 hours a day.
If you ever have the privilege of fishing with our son, say GDAY as he just loves to chat about fishing and help you.
And we finally made it WA!!!!!
Tuesday 10th September we crossed the WA border and we all couldn’t believe that we finally made it.
We just can’t wait to see what WA has to offer and the memories we are going to make.
GREGORY DOWNS, QLD
Another free camp on the Savannah Way as we make our way to Western Australia.
You can stay right on the river and walk out your van door into the water it’s unreal and it’s FREE!!!
You can grab your noodle, bogey board, floatie or float down the river, it’s really fun and the boys absolutely had a ball they loved it.
Pub is a 5 min walk up the road and it’s cheap.
No unleaded fuel only diesel, so full up those Jerry cans as Camooweal is 260km away if heading that way.
Toilets, bins and dump point across from the pub.
Can stay for a maximum of 7 nights only.
We bloody loved it here and thanks to @harvey_family_expeditions for the suggestion
Apparently I might have to take up bowls at some point….. not bad
At around 3pm most afternoons there was a group of travellers who must do this every time they visit Mission Beach and it was fun as kids were playing as well.
The crossing to Elliot Falls, Cape York QLD
There are 3 options you can choose to get across but if you want to get over in one piece I would choose this one.
Someone had put a heap of rocks into one of the big holes to make it easier, however each time we did the crossing was different as the track had changed.
This was as rough 4wd we did whilst in the Cape as we weren’t up for playing and paying for damage.
Elliott Falls in the Cape
This was a big deal for me to jump off this ledge into the water as I am so scared of heights.
I stood here for about 45minutes to an hour watching everyone else jump before I took the leap of faith and belly flopped basically on my boobs 😆😆😆
I kept telling myself you have to do this because who knows when you will be back so I conquered my fears.
Plus it was nice having people cheering me on when I finally jumped.
FISHING AT COEN RIVER, CAPE YORK
There was a little river crossing to go over for more fishing and camping, but unfortunately not suitable for big ass vans.
If you have a roof top, camper trailer or camping all good, but us big ass vans miss out, but can stay up the top no troubles.
Casey our youngest caught about 8 fish and the last two he caught a family who came in late asked if they could keep them for dinner.
It was an eventful afternoon with 20-30 bike riders arriving for a quick dip/shower and then off again.
And Matt from Explore Life arrived but we didn’t know until the next morning.

Who loves a corrugated road?
They are f$&ked in my opinion like I have nightmares about them 😆
Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the trip to the Cape York Peninsula, we are having an absolute ball.
But the road from Archer River to Weipa was absolutely sh*t, there were 5 corrugated sections the the 4th one was the bloody worse.
It’s all part of the adventure right…

Fishing in Cooktown, QLD
Whilst we stayed in Cooktown for 3 nights we heard that the fishing was suppose to be pretty good.
So took Casey down to the jetty to do some fishing and it turned out to be a great arvo for him.
Everyone around him was getting nibbles, but Casey was pulling them in no problems.

BIG 4 PORT DOUGLAS, GLENGARRY
We wish we could have stayed here longer but they were booked out for the weekend ahead, wasn’t meant to be.
We stayed on site 121 I think and we had a beautiful view behind us, plus Ant nailed it pretty much first go to get into the spot 👏🏻
The waterpark for the kids was amazing, can’t believe I didn’t take any photos or videos, but the boys had a great time even thought it was raining on and off.
It was awesome to see the BIG CROC 🐊 swim under the Mowbray Bridge, nice spotting to Casey who saw it, so make sure you stop here on your way to Port Douglas to check it out (maybe not with your van)
Did a Daintree cruise which was cool to see, plus the boys spotted about 4-5 crocs on land, and some of the spots they were hiding in makes you rethink walking on beaches 😮

CEDAR CREEKS FALL, QLD
Who doesn’t love a waterfall, just listen to that sound.
Just a 30 mins drive from Airlie Beach 🏝️
