A little something from me ...
There are so many negative stigmas around being single, words like selfish, come to mind...so despite all this negative discrimination can are single people happier?
We know the distinguishing factor in happiness is found in people that value freedom, creativity, trying new things, and having fun.
But as we delve into the research... it seem people who are not married have different values to coupled people.
Single people care more about expressive and individualistic experiences, such as creativity, freedom, trying new things, and having fun.
For example, a study comparing lifelong single people to coupled people found that valuing personal mastery and self-sufficiency helped boost confidence and happiness in single people, more than in married people.
When we think about solitude, we think of loneliness but single people it seems master the art of making a tribe....they understand the importance of community...
While coupled people have "The One," single people have “ones.” They gather, connect meaningfully and nurture their tribe.
I think it is even better than that, singles have their freedom, and that means they can value as many different people they like—or as few.
Alternatively some singles don’t need big social networks or circles of friends. What’s great about being single is that you can curate the kind of life that works best for you.
Singles are not devoid of happiness, and the data suggest singles value authenticity and psychological richness, too.
So remove the stigma and stand proud in your “singleness” or should we rename it to “resilientness” or “self-sufficientness” or “self reliant” time for a rebrand....there are so many more positive ways to describe a single person...
Have a great weekend
