The original enfant terrible of the tennis world, John McEnroe is certainly a worthy documentary subject, and who better to detail his trials and tribulations than the man himself. The film dives into the inner logic of the legendary figure, and as The Boston Globe noted at the time, it has "A crucial point to make about McEnroe’s bad behavior...his acting up and acting out weren’t a form of gamesmanship...It was about an almost-Platonic pursuit of perfection, a standard to which he held officials as well as himself."
