The Doomsday Clock was set at 89 seconds to midnight, the closest the Clock has ever been to midnight in its 78-year history. The 2025 Clock time signals that the world is on a course of unprecedented risk, and that continuing on the current path is a form of madness. The United States, China, and

We’ve just set up a small free food pantry at the South Brisbane Electorate Office! ✅
It’s a modest size right now, but if it proves popular with the community, we will expand it.
The Community Pantry is currently stocked with pasta, tinned food, tea, coffee, rice, oil and other non-perishable items.
It will be available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, so please feel welcome to stop by the office (1/90 Vulture Street West End) and take what you need.
You can also come by to drop off items to donate to the pantry, just make sure they’re non-perishable.
With increasing pressure on cost of living and housing, many in our community are doing it tough. As your local MP I’m keen to work on practical solutions, both inside Parliament and out in the community.
If you know anyone who’s having a tough week, please let them know they can swing by and grab what they need.

'Last Sunset' recalls the last day of freedom before colonial invasion of this continent. As Magan-djin/Meanjin/Brisbane mobilises for Invasion Day 2025, we're gathering activists, thinkers and creators to share practical skills and knowledge for the struggle.
Grounding the day in the continued resistance of sovereign Blackfullas, we draw the links between colonial violence here and elsewhere. By strengthening our collective skills, networks and knowledge, we sustain our movements for solidarity with Blackfullas, Palestinians, West Papuans, Kanaky and oppressed peoples everywhere.

A West End local's guide to takeaway coffee over the festive break.
If you live in West End and enjoy walking to get a takeaway coffee every single morning (as I do with my trusty reusable cup), this article is for you. My favourite coffee place is completely closing over the Christmas and New Year break, which left me wondering, 'So where will I go now?' This

The dates for National Reconciliation Week remain the same each year; 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.
Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The NRW Theme “Now More Than Ever” reminds us that, no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will – and must – continue.

FINISHED - DUANE DOYLE'S FLOOD MURAL
Post from artist, Sue Loveday @trueloveday
"Finished! Working alongside Duane Doyle on his Riverside Drive, West End mural has thrown all sorts of challenges, but his stamina and talent saw it finished…and it is singing.
"The mural tells the story of the 2022 floods, when Duane wasn’t sure about Kochie on Sunrise TV describing the river as a brown snake, rather than a healthy river in flood, going through its cycles. He picked up a pvc pipe from the wash up and painted a didgeridoo as a tribute to the community who pulled together to help each other out.
"Thanks to Councillors Jono Sri and Trina Massey, who picked up the story and found DD a wall. Also thanks to Community Plus for employing me to work with Duane.
"There will be an opening event. Stay tuned. #firstnationsart #westendbrisbane #communityplus "
