Shepparton leads the way being ranked "Best Entrepreneurial City" in Australia according to Bristax!

With a score of 6.96 out of 10, this ranking is due to a significant rise in small businesses over the past three years, as well as the fact that it has the highest number of small businesses per 100,000 people, making it a thriving hot spot for new enterprises.

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with a group of Year 9 students (and their mentors) as a part of the Connect9 program through .

Marketing, media and IT is an interest area for them as they look towards work experience next year.

We spoke about the journey in starting , the types of work we do and future job opportunities. 

Tomorrow Today’s Education Benalla Program was established in 2010 in response to Benalla ranking in the most disadvantaged 5% of LGAs in Victoria. Just over ten years into there mission, they have made a significant difference.

✅ 254 young people mentored by trained community volunteers

✅ 350% increase in work experience placements

✅ 10% increase in transition to work or study post-school

and much more.

I believe it’s vital that we offer the next generation of our workforce the opportunity to learn and experience different industries and interest areas.

It's become increasing obvious to me over the last few years how little I know about and understand my own emotions...

Day 3 at the SWISH Sales Coaching Bootcamp saw Jess Cameron take to the stage.

Key take aways from Jess's session included:

1. Anything you are avoiding doing is due to an emotion you are avoiding feeling.

2. Have a purpose that is bigger than your fear.

3. Don't settle for mediocre just because you want to avoid an emotion you don't want to feel.

4. The 5 R's of mastering emotion - Reaction, Regulate, Reset, Respond, Recovery.

Having young children has be one of the catalysts to learn more about my own emotions but also about helping my children manage their emotions...(while simultaneously managing my reaction to their emotions.)

As Jess also mentioned on the day relating to children, "We unconsciously teach suppression rather than expression".

Lots to continue learning about in this space.

John, aka “the Rev”, has a full on event schedule around Australia at the moment (hence us locking in a face to face prior to him boarding a flight to Darwin!)

has partnered with John for many years now and it’s been an honour to see Motov8’s growth and play a small part in bringing events to tens of thousands around the country.

Motov8ing Boys events are for specifically for boys 11-17 and their parents focusing on social and emotional intelligence, assisting parents with their teenagers and building strong respectful youth.

Facebook is working in the background to re-vamp its Pages experience…

It has certainly suffered in the past years as things get more saturated and new platforms steal peoples time and attention.

They are also testing a “professional mode” for personal Profiles (just in the US at the moment).

It allows you to use your profile more like a public page and include monitisation etc.

With that said, do you still spend time on Facebook or using your business/creator page?

⚠️ [Political Post] - The Public Health and Wellbeing (Pandemic Management) Bill 2021.

This is a new piece of legislation that is being pushed through parliament by Dan Andrews and the Victorian Labor Government.

If you have not seen/heard about it over the last 48 hours or I encourage you to simply “google it” and look more into what is being proposed.

At a period in the pandemic where 💉 %’s are being hit (and exceeded) in many areas we should be continuing to see restrictions and lockdown measures continue to ease but this new Bill essentially gives the Premier unprecedented powers to declare pandemics himself and enforce three month lockdowns as he sees fit “with little to no checks or balances”.

I would like to stress that this IS NOT legislated but it is being put to parliament and it concerns every single Victorian.

It’s been a big few months!

I think we all agree that in many ways this year has been even more challenging that 2020 (who would have thought that was even possible 🤯)

The business environment is one of the spaces that has been heavily impacted.

“Hats off” and well done to every business owner out there navigating these challenges (and our thoughts to those who haven’t been able to ride out the storm through no fault of their own)

As Australia starts to “open up”, there will be increased positivity as we work through Q4 and into the crazy festive season ahead.

I set a number of business goals at the start of the year and I’m fortunate to be ticking off a number of them before we hit the back half of 2021.

achieving Google Partner status was one of those goals.

Looking forward to sharing more in the coming months.

I’m also mindful that so many are really struggling (though no fault of their own) with what’s happening out there in the world but I hope we can do our bit to help as we keep growing and improving.
