It’s been a little soggy the past week - Where’s the sunshine?!Rainy weather can present unique challenges for French Bulldogs (and doggos in general) especially regarding skin and behavioral tendencies. Here’s a breakdown:

𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬:
1️⃣ Moisture Traps: Frenchies’ skin folds can retain moisture after exposure to rain, increasing the risk of infections, like yeast or bacterial growth.
✅ Prevention: Dry their folds thoroughly after they’ve been outside. Use a gentle, dog-safe wipe or a soft towel.
2️⃣ Allergies: Pollen, mold, and other irritants are stirred up in wet weather, potentially triggering allergic reactions (itchiness, redness, or hives).
✅ Prevention: Rinse their paws and coat after walks to remove irritants.
3️⃣ Paw Issues: Prolonged exposure to wet surfaces can cause cracked pads or fungal infections.
✅ Prevention: Apply a paw balm before heading out and dry paws thoroughly afterward.

𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐬:
1️⃣ Reluctance to Go Outside: Many Frenchies dislike rain - leading to accidents indoors or pent-up energy.
✅ Solution: Use a raincoat and boots (we are yet to trial this 🤣) to keep them dry, and offer praise or treats for braving the wet weather.
2️⃣ Restlessness: Limited outdoor time can make them hyperactive, or in our case, extremely unmotivated and lazy (fatty boom booms)
✅ Solution: Engage them with indoor activities like puzzle toys, tug-of-war, or training sessions. Or! Get out there, rain, hail or shine and get adventuring.
3️⃣ Anxiety: Rain and storms can amplify anxiety due to the noise of thunder, flashy lightning or heavy rain.
✅ Solution: Provide a safe, quiet space and consider white noise or calming sprays to soothe them. We usually take full advantage of these times and engage with Milo and Poppy to desensitise them - Use treats and their favourite toys to encourage happy behaviour.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐲… Just like Poppy’s face

Have you noticed Instagram’s grid has changed to a 4x5 layout? It’s a ‘small’ tweak, but it’s definitely shaking up how we post and plan our content!

The grid used to be all about that seamless, curated aesthetic (massive fan of that). But now? It’s more about discovery and connection. Eeep!

The new layout is pushing us to rethink how we showcase our content—and honestly, it’s a whole new vibe (a good vibe? Hmm, I’m not too sure just yet…)

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟒𝐱𝟓 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬:
➡️ The grid might look a little different now—less uniform, more dynamic.
➡️ Reels are taking over (as they have been for a little while now). They fit the layout perfectly and are key to being discovered.
➡️ Real and relatable content is in. People want personality over perfection (This scares me and not what we know best…)
➡️ Your grid still matters, but it’s about creating a strong first impression rather than perfect alignment. Again, not really our cup of tea, but we will give it a go…

While this change feels like a big shift, it’s a chance to adapt, experiment, and focus on connecting with your audience in fresh ways. I’m taking it as an opportunity to shake up the way we post. You may see some changes in the coming weeks. Whether we revert back… time will tell.

For Milo and Poppy, humid conditions are particularly challenging due to their brachycephalic anatomy, which makes it harder for them to cool down effectively.

As Frenchie owners, it’s all about finding the right balance—ensuring they’re getting exercise and enrichment they need, while avoiding overheating or exhaustion. Overcast days might feel cooler, but high humidity can quickly turn playtime into a risk for their health. Today was one of those days - It sure was sticky!

𝐓𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐨𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥:
✔️ Limit activities to short play sessions with plenty of breaks.
✔️ Opt for loose collars or lightweight harnesses to allow better airflow.
✔️ Take frequent water breaks, including frequent dips in the water.
✔️ Use air-con on the drive home to bring their body temperature back to normal.

Their safety and happiness are always the priority, and small adjustments like these make every adventure both fun and safe.

Sundays are always reserved for family. I couldn’t resist snapping this sweet family portrait of the doggos for the first Sunday of 2025.

As Miss Holly is getting on (she’s just turned 16!), these photos are becoming more and more special to us. Milo and Poppy absolutely adore their cousin, and it’s so important to continue putting aside the time for them to play, bond and keep each other company. Besides, we know it does wonders for Holly - Keeping her young at heart ♥️

𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲…

…And sometimes you simply MUST open up presents before the designated date! Today was one of those days 😍

Aunty Pam, truly outdid herself on these ones. The sparkle, the colour, the everything! They’re truly magical and beyond perfect. We also got two stunning Christmas necklaces too (but you’ll have to wait to see those beauties).

You might be thinking “Beaded necklaces won’t last on rough-nut Frenchies” … Wrong! These bad bois are made using quality aircraft cable so they can easily hold up to 320lbs (145kg)!

To be completely transparent, I was also a little unsure how Milo and Poppy would take to wearing them (being a little chunkier than a regular collar), but absolutely no issues at all! They’ve been wearing them all day and haven’t displayed any sorts of dismay towards them! Such a win and I’m completely obsessed!

We loveeeeee the beach and summer days! But…Did you know French Bulldogs like Milo and Poppy aren’t the best swimmers? (Even though they’re always ready to give it a red-hot crack).
