🔌New public electric vehicle chargers are officially live in Emerald.

🔋The two chargers are located near the Visitor Information Centre on the Capricorn Highway.

🚗The chargers are part of Queensland's Electric Super Highway by the state government and were originally promised to have been installed by mid-2023.

🪫The delay on the Emerald chargers left a gap of 450 kilometres between public EV chargers, with the closest in Barcaldine and Dingo.

UPDATE 7:09PM.

The Rockhampton Airport has reopened and some commercial flights have resumed.

Police have completed testing and have confirmed the terminal is safe.

Earlier:
The Rockhampton Airport has been evacuated as a precaution because of a security incident.

Authorities were called just before 1:30pm to the airport.

All outgoing flights have been suspended, while incoming flights have been diverted until further notice.

The Rockhampton Regional Council, which operates the airport, said it was aware of the incident and the terminal had been evacuated as per the emergency procedure.
