Swiftwater crews rescued three people trapped in floodwater on the Gregory Highway in Clermont overnight.

Two of them were on the roof of a B-Double truck and one was on the roof of another vehicle.

CLERMONT FLOODING UPDATE 💧

Isaac Regional Council Mayor Kelly Vea Vea said 40-60 properties in Clermont have been affected by floodwater.

"Yesterday we had a lot of fast-moving water going through Sandy Creek, which really affected the low-lying residents there," Ms Vea Vea said.

"The situation is visibly calming, the floodwaters have been receding all throughout the night."

"For everyone in Clermont today that's assessing the debris and damage, be careful, make sure they're looking for safety first."

The Isaac Regional Council has issued a flood warning for residents in the rural town of Clermont, with properties in low-lying areas being impacted.

Clermont State School has opened as a place of refuge for people in the town who need a safe place to go.

Authorities have issued a Flood Emergency Warning for the central Queensland town of Clermont as large parts of the state are on flood watch in the wake of ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji.

Communities south of Mackay, the Isaac region and Central Queensland are being warned heavy rain and the risk of flash flooding could continue overnight after ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji soaks the region.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji has crossed the north Queensland coast between the towns of Ayr and Bowen and has weakened into a tropical low pressure system.
