THE STORY
David Bowie's 50th birthday concert was a lot like the man himself: glamorous, thrilling, fashionable and not soon forgotten. "It's my birthday — it's my party," Bowie told Rolling Stone following the show, which was held on Jan. 9, 1997, a day after his actual birthday. David Robert Jones, known professionally as David Bowie, was an English singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. His career was marked by reinvention and visual presentation, and his music and stagecraft have had a significant impact on popular music. Bowie developed an interest in music from an early age. He studied art, music, and design before embarking on a professional career as a musician in 1963. He released a string of unsuccessful singles with local bands and a self-titled solo album (1967) before achieving his first top-five entry on the UK singles chart with "Space Oddity" (1969).

We are off on a Rail Journey this week with the Archer Park Rail Museum Approvedd !!! We explore the Manager's carriage and the sleeping car!!! If only they could talk. Just a reminder we will be finding out more about the 125th Anniversary on Thursday in the Boodles Big Breakfast, the anniversary is happening on Sunday (17th). Make sure you get along, on what will be a great journey of discovery!

OPERATION WHISKEY LEGION is rolling out today. You can expect to see a a significant increase in police numbers in the Capricornia Region. Here is Assistant Commissioner Chris Hodgman with details. More with Dales Whyte on the Boodles Big Breakfast tomorrow.

This week is "Homelessness Week" and tragically, the situation has never been worse in Central Queensland, with "Tent Cities" continuing to grow around the region, the result of a lack of housing and tough economic times, Harvey Norman Bedding and Harvey Norman Computers wanted to help as part of a 4RO Rocky Rescue, so we contacted one of the organisations who are doing so much to help our region's homeless - the Rockhampton Food Bank - and we delivered one of those big cheques!
