Season 1 of the Me&Him Podcast is a wrap and season 2 is already well underway 👍

The first season tracks the story of my father‘s life, starting from his great grandfather’s arrival in New Zealand from Dalmatia, and concluding with his father‘s cremation.

The discussions cover topics around childhood, fatherhood relationships, addictions and more. Importantly, it serves as an honest dialogue between father and son, sharing their personal stories in the living years, all mixed in with plenty of humour and belly laughs

Being close to animals has soothing effect on one's psyche, exposing us to unconditional love.

In Episode 5, dad & I talk about my recent trip to the Animal Shelter and the joy that animals are giving me right now.

Dad also shares his rather firm views on what should happen to the perpetrators of domestic violence, and we discuss the protest song he produced last year in Emails from Dad.

As an only child with no TV and few friends, Dad kept himself occupied with reading books when he was young 📚.

This turned into a benefit academically but posed some challenges as he attempted to make small talk with his classmates.

Dad's a bit slower off the mark at 80 but thankfully he still has a good sense of humour as I take the p**s out of him regularly😂.

We both believe that strong father-son relationships are beneficial for the development of young men, and if a father is estranged or passed, that another older male role is important for guidance and connection.

Episode 3 continues the story of Dad's childhood and his Māori schoolyard bully/protector, and we also broach the topic of 'plutonic touching' and how it relates to lonely men.

The Men's Sheds have done a wonderful job of bringing men together since 2007, now boasting over 1000 sheds all across Australia and a membership of over 125,000 men.

Dad recounts the fact that his mate attends one which includes a few women as well, which I compared to fathers being accepted into a 'mother's group'.

Dad grew up as an only child and spent a lot of time with his Grandparents while his parents worked, learning to cook, iron - and even crochet - by 8 years old!
