There's currently 100,000 new songs being added to Spotify each day!

Intrigued I thought I'd do some simple maths on what a year with this scenario really means,,,

At an average of 3 minutes each song that's around 5,000 hours per day.

So if I listened non stop to music for 24 hours, (plenty of coffee needed) by tomorrow I'd still have 4,976 hours of music to listen to.

If I listened to a further 24 hours of music (probably need more than a strong coffee for day 2) by the next morning I'd have 9,952 hours of NEW music to catch up on

Day 3, I'm going a tad delulu but stick to my plan and have 14,928 hours (or 622 days to make it easier to grasp) to listen to,,

Without sending everyone crackers I'll jump to the end of the first week by which time I'm probably comatose and listening subliminally.. with 700,000 new tracks listed I'm clocking up a 34,832 hour backlog, or a smidge short of 4 years... (my maths may be getting wonky at this point)

So I've still got 51 weeks and nearly 36 million songs to add to my playlist.

And this is before AI music generation takes off....

So my question is with a fundamental lack of time to listen to all this material how is any musician out of the top few % going to make a living out of this business model? How are we going to increase the human lifespan to live to 205 so we can listen to the content produced "this year" ?

As a by-product of this huge amount of content being produced, as more songs are released individual revenues must decrease, It's unlikely spotify and other streaming services are going to increase payments significantly or at all.

Your answers on the back of a stamp please..

What is happening to the music business? Is there a catastrophe Ahead? I'm sure there's valid reasons but is it going to get worse before it gets better? If…

Sometimes I wonder if councils take any notice of people. I brought this issue up with CoB many years ago when Tonkin hwy was being widened. https://www.watoday.com.au/.../wrong-side-of-the-track...
The solid walls are a flawed solution to rail or highway noise. They cause something called a 'tunnelling effect.' Sound is reflected quite a distance from the source. I proposed a solution with a redesign of the walls that would reduce the noise because it would absorb sounds not reflect them... still open to discussions if anyone can be bothered...

To further add to my note:
Typical traffic noise at highway speeds creates
sound waves between 100 Hz and 135 Hz (yes I've measured them) so they range from approximately 3.43 meters to 2.54 meters in length. So they will roll over a wall of 2-3 metres high...

Somebody has made a bloody fortune selling those "sound barrier" walls along the highways

Anyone wondered why they still hear the traffic a kilometre away especially at night? and more importantly the more annoying aspect of the low frequencies that permeate through everything?

Usually when you pay for software support you never think it's really worth it.
I've been using Merging Technology's Pyramix audio software since being recommended as a replacement for my Sonic Solutions system by Ric Curtin at least 10 years now I reckon.

Anyway did a daft thing today while updating other programmes, and it wouldn't open..

Just messaged support in Switzerland, got a reply in about 1 minute, literally before I could reboot my computer with a solution, opened it up again, did the fix in about 20 seconds and back running again,

That is awesome service!! I know it seems a bit odd to some,, but really that kind of thing for us techies is totally reassuring.

Lovely surprise text from long time friend Chaz Garnett- Botfield
Chaz brought down some old Wangki Radio station programmes from Fitzroy that were recorderd on reel to reel, that they had been told could no longer be played.
I love a challenge of course so set about seeing what could be done.
Fortunately out of about 20 reels I managed to recover the programme content of all except one - which was partially erased,.

So to get this message and photo of the crew was a real gift.

G'day Mark, presentation at Wangki Radio this morning. Everyone surprised and Very Happy.
Well done mate, and Big Thanks πŸ‘
Cheers Chaz
