A new development next to a long established live music venue should not be able to have that venue closed due to claimed noise issue. It’s time to put a stop to this kind of corporate bullying.

Join us in our fight against construction over culture, and help keep Freo.Social alive!

Development approvals and impending noise restrictions have put our venue at risk, and it’s on us to protect the live music industry and cultural fabric of Fremantle.

Help us by signing our petition supporting Freo.Social’s noise permit application so we can keep trading as a live music venue

Apologies to the bands who had shows this weekend that I said I would get to. I am sick yet again and not gonna be going out to any gigs.

This is getting kinda stupid at this point and I’m really over the rollercoaster of sick, ok, sick, ok. I’m booked in to see my doctor this week to hopefully get to the bottom of why I’ve been constantly getting sick.

Enjoy your weekends folks!

Well I hoped to get back out to some gigs this weekend but it hasn’t happened. My daughter’s 16th Birthday yesterday and generally not feeling 100% put pay to that.

If like me you were left craving more Aussie content in the Hottest 100 yesterday then maybe have a listen to the playlist from Tuesday nights show. It’s missing 3 tracks that have not been released yet (Interflow - Haylee Robins & Gina Bella).

If you want the full show including those tracks, check out the on demand recording on my page on the hfm.radio website. Link to this and all previous playlists is in the linktree in my bio.

Show 41 last night was a return to my normal format, with a show jam packed with new music.

I had a chat to Maya Ixchell about her new single Panic Attack which will be released on Friday.

You can listen to the show again on the HFM.radio website. Just check the In The Scene show page for previous episodes. I will update my link tree with the new Spotify playlist later today and add Panic Attack on Friday when it’s released.

In the meantime, go see a band!

New year, means new music and boy have I got lots for you. Tomorrow night I’ll be chatting to Maya Ixchell about her new single Panic Attack and how it was inspired by the East Vic Park K- Mart.

Antithesis announced in November last year that they would not be playing any more shows. I now have 3 new tracks from the band and will be playing one tomorrow night.

I have loads of other new music for your listening pleasure too, so make sure to tune in from 7pm.

Our Number 1 song in the Fiery 50 for 2024 was Bailey Perrie with You Know You Kinda Like It.

Bailey has been releasing music since she was just 14. She turned 18 in 2024 and was back in the US again for International Singer Songwriter Association Awards in September taking out the International Rising Star Award.

She was also nominated in 6 categories at the Whoo’s Hoo Country Music Awards in September in the US also.

She also won 3 awards from Fair Play Red Carpet Awards in Holland - Songwriter of the Year - Best Pop Original - Music Video of the Year.

She won the Youth Songwriter Award in Sydney at the Australian Songwriters Association Awards at end of November.

At 2 was SOUR with Stayed Up. Another really young band nominated for WAM Song of the Year in the 15-18 year old category. They made the Unearthed High Year Book and had their songs played on Triple J this year. They won the Battle of the Bands at the 2024 Royal Show. They are only starting in what should be a huge career in music. Congratulations to SOUR on taking out the number 2 spot in the Fiery 50 2024

At 3 was Sofia Gale with Laugh. Sofia is only 17 but has had 3 WAM Song of the Year nominations already and won the Act Belong Commit Award in 2024. This was her only single release in 2024 but was clearly popular taking out number 3 in the Fiery 50 2024

At number 4 was Ojay with TAKOTSUBO. Ojay have only been releasing music since 2023 but have been prolific, releasing 9 singles, 2 albums and an EP in that time. Their live shows hit so hard. This track was released in April and has over, 25,500 streams already

The band are in SA on tour right now so go check em@out if you live in the East Coast.

At 10 was EDIE with Cool Girl. 2024 was EDIE’s year. First full band show to a packed venue, multiple articles in Rolling Stone Magazine and the video to this song amassed over 9000 views in 6 months.

At 9 was Sun After Dusk with Getting Better. New on the scene they released their debut single in Jan 2024 followed by 2 more singles over the year. They also played 26 live shows in 2024.

At 8 was Rocks & Rhubarb with The Current. This young band met at high school and have been releasing music for 2 years only. I was at the launch of this single in November and the crowd were so into every song.

At 7 was Don’t Tell Daisy with Subway. A young band from the Wheatbelt with only 2 songs released to date. This one was released in September and the launch show at the Indi Bar was huge.

At 6 is Broken Pedal with Orchid. Another young band whose debut single is clearly popular with our listeners. Released in February they followed it with 2 more singles in 2024 and have a new track due in Feb 2025

At 15 was Foothead with Cost of Living. This band has been on the scene for about 4 years. They only released this one single in 2024 but are regulars on the live scene.

At 14 was Vacate Palace with Chinahole. Hugely popular on the ALL AGES scene, even putting on their own AA shows. They are putting in the hard yards to grow their fan base.

At 13 was Sleepy Soph with her debut single Uneasy. That debut single has had over 10,000 streams to date. Another one to watch in 2025.

At 12 was Navisha with See Through. Another debut single but hugely popular with our listeners clearly. In comparison it’s only had just over 1000 streams but her fans got her to the number 12 spot.

At 11 was Spacey Jane with One Bad Day. One of the few big name acts from WA to break into our top 50. Just goes to show how community radio can support independent artist I guess

At 20 was Shorehaven with feminine. They have only released 3 singles and an EP so far but are quickly establishing themselves as a force in the Perth indie scene.

At 19 was Siobhan Cotchin with Ghost of Us. What a huge 2024 she has supporting Matchbox 20 and Goo Goo Dolls. This single released in November has over 18,600 streams already.

At 18 was Elianie with Matter of Time. I call her the chorus queen, as she writes a killer catchy chorus in every song just about. No surprise she was a Triple J Unearthed High Finalist in 2024. Watch out for her in 2025!

At 17 was Increment with Backseat. They might still be young but they are on the way up. 2025 sees them added to the Hyper Fest lineup along side some big names.

At 16 was Joan & The Giants with Born in the Wrong Time. Talk about having a huge 2024. They supported Pink at Optus Stadium, toured as support for Belinda Carlisle played Blues at Bridgetown, won WAM Rock Song of the Year and so much more.

I just played tracks 25 - 21 in the Fiery 50 2024. It was a real mixed bag.

At 25 was 11:44 with their debut single One Day. Impressive showing for such a new band.

At 24 was The Mumbles with On Our Own who have been around the Perth scene since 2021 and released 4 singles & an EP to date.

At 23 was Figgy Tuna with Criminal Mind. They have only released 2 singles to date, both in early 2024.

At 22 was Maya Ixchell with Hurricane. Maya was nominated for WAM Folk Song of the Year in 2024 for her song Second Thought

At 21 was Michael Ward with Forever. Michael has been releasing music since 2021 and is very active on the WA live scene as both a performer and promoter.

Now it’s time to get stuck into the top 20.
