Congratulations Ana Victoria - breaking down barriers and showing what is possible for young people with a disability. We applaud your passion and determination.

Ana Victoria Espino De Santiago has made history as the world’s first Latina lawyer with Down syndrome, graduating with a Law degree from Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (BUAZ). 🇲🇽🎓

Born on January 30, 1999, in Zacatecas, Ana Victoria has consistently defied expectations, proving her condition is no barrier to success.

Supported by her parents, Ana Victoria excelled in education and the arts, even showcasing her paintings at prestigious exhibitions. In 2019, she pursued a career in law, driven by her passion for human rights.

Her goal is to open doors for people with disabilities, advocating for their rights and aspiring to become a local deputy. Ana Victoria’s achievement highlights that nothing is impossible.

Congratulations Ana Victoria! 👏

REVIEW OF WA SCHOOL EDUCATION ACT PART TWO

One of the most satisfying elements of the Crew's involvement in this film project was Dr. Tony Buti MLA and Education WA's view that the most important voice in this consultation process was the children and young people with disability themselves. The Crew were given a brief of creating wonder and curiosity, creating a conversation about areas for review and encouraging students with a disability to voice what they would like to create a more inclusive world.

The Department would like young people to respond to this film or the discussion page in writing, spoken form or even by video. All the details are on the review page under Children and Young People: https://www.education.wa.edu.au/web/school-education-act-review?fbclid=IwY2xjawExKiBleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHR6OVSag9eWjSsvjAep0PQRm05b11j0AcyNqL3zax3dx-hpp-pXKzfT6aA_aem_JyTf8TsHSM6vdaEOUYq3NQ

The Periscope Crew would love for every young person who is part of our village to feel included and thrive at school and we encourage you to be part of this important process. Submissions close 4 October.

Thanks again to everybody involved in making these films.

What an amazing night! The inaugural Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA Diversity and Inclusion Awards was an absolute celebration of diversity and inclusion in this State of ours. Thank you to our one of our favourite inclusion partners City of Swan for inviting The Periscope Crew along as their special guests, joining 780 attendees in what was an incredible evening.

We were thrilled to cheer on some of our closest Crew friends Hayden Marchetto (WA All Abilities Football Association) and Ian Tsolakis (Hospitality Disability Network WA) winning well-deserved awards - as well as catch up with lots of our extended village who believe in a world where every person belongs and thrives.

Thank you Keryn South and Erica Rusbridge for bringing the Crew and the House of Honey team as your special guests. We love our partnership with the City of Swan. A wonderful night.

It was a magical day at Mercy College for Catherine and Madi, with MadI presenting to the Year 7 & 8 students on the importance of seeing every person as more than their disability - and see them how they see themselves. This really is at the core of TPC’s work. The students were really enraptured, felt like they need to do better and definitely found themselves a new fantastic role model. And there were plenty of tears from the teachers we hear! Well done on representing TPC and all we stand for Madi!

Many of you will remember The Murphy Brothers who had all of us on the dancefloor for the Love Lunch’s magical fundraiser for the Crew. Sadly Courtney Murphy is in the fight of his life after being diagnosed with advanced stage bowel cancer. We send our love to Courtney and the whole Murphy clan who were so kind and generous towards our Crew.

If you would like to show them some love back there is a fundraiser to support Courtney and his young family. The link is here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/courtney-murphy-and-his-family

On location with Basketball WA. Yesterday we were excited to do our first film job with Basketball WA, the Everyone's Games Carnival held at Bendat Stadium. 14 teams competed in the event with teams travelling from as far away as Albany to be part of the action. It was a great day with great skill and even greater sportsmanship. And a bonus for our Crew was that TPC cameraman Jayden was one of the athletes in action - awesome to cheer you on Jayden! Thanks Jessie Goodluck and the whole Basketball WA crew for inviting us along - we can wait to show you all our content!

Yesterday was an great day for the Crew when we visited the City of Swan for the launch of their Accessible and Inclusive Business Initiative. It was a celebration of the City of Swan's vision to create a City where every business makes the small tweaks needed to include the 20% of Australians who live with a disability.

It was pretty wonderful to see the premiere screening of the film we made for them just before Christmas; featuring small businesses that have created welcoming and accessible venues for every visitor. Thank you to The Colony Of Midland, The House of Honey & The Sticky Spoon Cafe and Adventure Golf Midland for having us and spoiling us with the best food!

Our film-shoot day was one of our favourite jobs ever, working with an amazing professional team headed by the superstar Indi, and Keryn and Kerri who are legends too! All of the film talent (including Madi, James and Andrea) had so much fun and we all walked away feeling this was the start of a special partnership indeed. So yesterday's reunion with these Swan visionaries, the actors and businesses was like catching up with old friends!

It was lovely to meet you Tanya Richardson Mayor City of Swan and Swan CEO Stephen Cain. It was inspiring to hear your dedication to real accessibility and inclusion - just like the Crew!

Great to see efforts being made to give people with a disability the same access to the best events Perth has to offer. This is something that The Periscope Crew has been advocating for from the very beginning (we love our sport!)Well done to Crew anchor Madison for a great interview representing Activ Foundation. And a special shout out to Crew member James who has been a representative on the Optus Stadium Access and Inclusion Committee for two years. This amazing bunch have been working tirelessly with the venue team so that our world's best stadium can be enjoyed by everyone.

Going to sporting events and live concerts are some of life’s great pleasures, but for people with sensory or accessibility issues, it can be daunting.
