Photographers think that if they are better at photography they’ll be better at business, but it’s absolutely not true.

The better photographer you are doesn’t guarantee you anything. It only makes you a better photographer.

The best artists in the world who stay sketching in their bedrooms, will never be the best at what they do.

So no, if you up-skill your photography, it wont make you better at business. In fact, it can have the opposite effect.

If you got better at photography, expecting to make more sales, you’ve missed the mark.

If you got better at business, and expected to take better photos, you’d missed the mark.

Directly change based on the outcome you want to achieve. If you want to be better at business, you need to invest in a business coach.

If you want to be a better photographer, invest in a course that teaches photography.

At the moment, I’ve got some big things happening in my life that are really testing my sense of control over when and how I work.

I’ve always been so privileged to be able to work whenever I want, however I want and for how long I want.

�At the moment, my time is not my own, so I am having to push my traditional way of working out the window.

When I can, I’ll work at night because I cant work during the day. Ive NEVER been able to work once the sun sets, but now, it feels so aligned.

It’s strange what happens when you surrender to the things you cant control.

You achieve peace.

At this point in time, if you are struggling to hold onto something, I encourage you to surrender to it.

The peace will come and the money will flow. I promise.

You have to trust all the work you’ve done before.

When life gets in the way, when people need you, when your kids are sick…

When you need to step back from being 100% energetically available to your business, you need to trust the work you’ve done before.

You need to know that the runway you’ve been building will be able to land the plane you’re flying.

This is why, when you’re green light lit up and actioning every single day, it’s going to pay off in the real long run.

When life gets in the way, it’s time to move into “essential mode.”

We ALL do way more in our businesses that we actually need to be doing, often sitting and scrolling for no reason other than to feel like we are working.

So “essential mode” needs to be the following:

- Marketing (always the MOST important thing - without it you have no business.)
- Client Management - emails, dm’s and follow ups.

Cool, that’s it.

When you just cant, all you need to do is the essentials. These should be as important as brushing your teeth.

A rotten tooth doesn’t become rotten from not brushing once or twice, it becomes rotten after a consistent period of no brushing.

Brushing your teeth is an essential and you always make time for it.

Your business should be the same.

Anything with a good outcome begins with intention.

If you go into gym with intention to push yourself hard, you’ll have a great session.
If you go into gym with no plan, no intention, you’ll end up on the treadmill, bored.

If you post to social media with clarity and good copy designed to serve a purpose, you’ll sell s**t.
If you post to social media for the sake of posting, with no intention, you’ll get a couple of likes.

If you intend to have a good day, you’ll see the bright side of things.
If you wake up with nothing, any bump in the road will topple you.

If you set the intention, that for the next 6 months, every waking moment you have to yourself is dedicated to your goals, your business will grow. Exponentially.

If you carry on without direction or intention, you’ll continue floating like you are now.

Set your intention and watch the magic happen.

My story of building a winning streak over the last 5 years.

I have been committed to training 5 days a week at the same gym for the last 5 years. The math does something like 1,300 hours (minimum) of training alone.

This gym closed last week. I still feel a little lost to be honest as I’ve lost a routine, the ease of seeing my friends and my sense of community.

�Aside from the 1,300 hours training, I spent 1300 hours learning about myself and my mental capacity to handle life’s conundrums.

I didn’t realize that a 5 year commitment to my physical health was also a commitment to my emotional intelligence.

I’ve been through some hard s**t in my life and suffered the grief of huge losses. There is something to be said for those losses now.

I’ve seen the importance of ‘belonging’ to a community and through this particular loss, felt the shift to actually lead one now.

I knew that running my mastermind was building a community, but I more saw it has a place for creatives to get financial results and build profitable businesses.

I believe that losses are never truly losses. If you step into your heart and ponder on what the next twist that life has to offer is really trying to tell you, you might see the power in your next move.

My next move is to build this kind of connection that I’ve had over the last few years for creative business owners. There is no argument that people need community. We need a shared sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves.

I’ve learned that building your winning streak, even when you’ve only got 10% to give, sums up the mental strength of a lion who trusts that the next season will deliver for them.

I want you to be on the lookout for my next move. This loss has hurt, but it’s good, it’s time to build out the next big thing.
