✂️🧩 DIY puzzles 🧩✂️
We are powering through the puzzles lately so had a go at making our own - Cutting up the recyclables. I love that this is so easy to grade up/downwith more or less pieces and differing shapes. Great for miss 5yo looking at putting letters and words together also 👏

📸 Photography Challenge 📸
Nina was meant to be “photographer” this week at school so we made our own list and sent her out to find photo representations - she felt super important documenting her finds in the backyard.

🌈Rainbow Windows🌈
Our community in taking part with window rainbows and teddy bear hunts. No one ever comes in our tiny street but will at least put a smile on the postman, garbage truck and neighbours faces at least 😆 Whole day activity for us!

🏙 City skyline 🏙
Kids current obsession is the skyscrapers in the city, especially as they have been literally touching the clouds lately! Ripping and tearing newspaper to create our city and draw on lots of teeny tiny shaped windows was a great afternoon activity. I think Nina will demand to have this one up on display for some time yet!

✍️ life drawing ✍️
I asked Nina to find a favourite item around the house so we could try some life drawing, of course she chose rainbow+unicorn+bow 😝 she’s a perfectionist so asked me to draw the outline but I think she got the colours pretty spot on!
Excited to try a bit more of this as lovely to see her so present and engaged, hopefully she will gain confidence to try herself - any life drawing/nature journaling tips out there??

🥬 Knife skills and soup making 🥬
An inside table top activity for this wet wet day! Nina requested this one and the kids enjoyed running out in the rain to gather their ingredients from the garden and then left them to it to chop, stir, scoop and pour away.

💙 Recycling wall 💙
Busy busy creating and painting on this vertical surface. Simply our weeks recyclables glued onto cardboard and let them loose with a tray of paint “it’s beautiful mum” in the words of a 4yo 😍

🧡 Salt painting 🧡
I love the focus and control that this activity required from Nina who as always took the task very seriously 😝 so many possibilities with salt painting... we have used it before as a fun name recognition, pattern and fine motor/finger strengthening activity.
Use PVA glue, pour over salt, shake off excess and paint over with water colour paints, we used pipettes this time round 👏

🌈 Q-Tip painting 🌈
Ah the humble q-tip wins again, one of the best fine motor tools in our house! This is a favourite for encouraging pincer grip and even Max sat down with intent and focus for this one (for all of 5mins) Nina was so proud of her rainbow that she took this one into school for her teacher 🤗

🍝 Spaghetti ooblek 🍝
One from the weekend, trying to keep these 2 out from under dad’s feet whilst doing some work in the yard....it worked a treat! Our normal pink ooblek (as requested by Nina) with spaghetti added, which seems to be a popular choice lately on the Instagram! 🤗

When Maxy wakes up like a bear from his nap I’m pretty happy we’ve got a distraction like this ready to go! Sensory play tray with lentils, split peas and dyed rice did the trick with a bonus volcano to get things really messy! Fluffy cloud dough ☁️, such a silky smooth soft texture and smells like a florist! Just 2 ingredients for this fascinating take on play dough. For this one we used 1:3 ratio of cheap hair conditioner:cornflour. Adjust more or less cornflour to get a more stretchy or crumbly texture. My little splat painting fairy 😍 about a year ago. Nina loves any form of this activity. On this occasion we drew little bugs on the page for her to aim at, working on some hand eye coordination skills. Pigs in mud 🐷🐽 adding a little cacao to our oobleck creates a muddy variation. What a contrast to today’s miserable weather. The sun so brilliant it was drying up our paints before they could even be “splatted” Miss always loves this activity using just big dollops of paint under cotton cosmetic pads and a mini hammer.
